Well there are the simple things, like having a really good chocolate chip cookie after lunch. Or when someone gives a sincere compliment...then there are the more meaningful like helping a good friend who needs you....or when my son stops whatever it is he's doing and comes running over just because he wants a hug (talk about precious!!) I have a very long list...doesn't take much to make me happy I guess :)

Generally, things that make people happy in the long term are: enough money to be comfortable and fashionable and to keep up with your peers, a fantastic sex life resulting from a loving partner, good friends who will always be there for you and who you enjoy spending time with, a career which you enjoy doing or at least a passion or interest of some kind, a caring family and a healthy body. You have to identify what you want and go for it. All your needs must be satisfied. If you're not happy, you have to have hope. Oh yeah, try put emphasis on being in the present, rather than future or past.

In no particular order?

Books. Poetry. Rain. History. Figuring something out. The night sky. The mere thought of my significant other, not to mention his presence. Accomplishment. My family. Nick Drake. Stories. Ideas, especially new ones, whether they're good ideas or not. My friends. Warm blankets out of the dryer. Incense. Hummus. The smell of the sidewalk after the rain. Coming in out of the cold to an Irish coffee. My tiny cute computer. My wonderful dog. The wind.

There's a few. I could probably list 4185.

Mr. Duchovny,
I have thought about this one too.

1) God working in my life.

2) An open road, on my way to somewhere I've never been before, and plenty of time to do it.

3) Unfortunately; money.

4) Recognition and acceptance from someone that I've helped.

Well I am happy I finally got a new med. that will keep my blood pressure down finally, I am happy we are able to pay our bills on time, I am very happy Fall has finally arrived and it is cooler weather. I am happy it is almost deer season where I live. I am happy when I am on my deer stand and a wonderful big buck comes in front of my scope, and my gun is right on him , and he falls right in his tracks.. These are some things that do make me happy. This is no joke I am serious..

I think myself happy.

Happiness is a decision, a journey...not a destination.

I will not allow someone or something to dictate my state of happiness. I simply do not give them the option or power.

If someone is looking for outside sources to make themselves happy then when they find the stimulus and the "newness" or "novelty" wears off...they will be off to another stimuli; never finding happiness.

Singing for an appreciative audience, my son's hugs and smile, swimming, danceing, listening to a great song come on the radio, imagining the freedom I might have someday, my YA regular friends.

Life! A smile, giving, receiving, accomplishing something that's not been done before, seeing my works have an impact, the sun, the rain, all nature really, my children (mostly ;-) ), my cats, my aquarium fish.

Just within the last hour...

My 3 yr old's story about finding "treasure" in his room (it was toothpaste)....he has a wonderful imagination, and tells funny stories.

My 8 month old's smile when he succeeded in pulling himself up to a standing position....I think he was proud of himself =)
