It is actually two words, "carbonato" ( = carbon) and "de" ( = of)
and is then used in conjunction with another element, in which case both words are sometimes (wrongly) joined.
For example: carbonatode cálcio, carbonatode sodio, carbonatode lítio, arbonatode magnesio, and so on .....
