Depends on how big you are,but generally if you have a full stomach, blood level hits the 80 after 5 units.(2.5 pints normal strength beer or 5 measures of spirit.)
This can vary depending on your weight .Small people can be over the limit on 2 units.
Liver processes 1 unit per hour,so if you drink slowly deduct number of hours boozing time from total input to give running total.
Best not to push it if driving!

There is no failsafe guide as to how much you can drink and still stay under the limit as it can depend on so many individual factors (the amount and type of alcoholic drink; your weight, sex, age, food intake, metabolism and tolerance etc.) So if you want to be really sure you are within the law, there are home test kits which you can buy and they measure how many mgs of alcohol per mls of blood ... I saw a few adverts pop up for such kits yesterday but paid little attention to them, so can't give you better information, sorry. As bothersome as adverts are, when you want to find one again, you can't.
However I suggest you go to www.drugs-aware.com and see their section on inexpensive test kits. (E:g: "AlcoScreen") They may also have other good information for you.
Safest thing is to drink at home or take a taxi.
There is this system where I live where you drive your own car to the party or wherever, then drink all you want, and phone for the Home Return Service. This is a little official car that comes with two drivers; drunken you gets in that car with one driver and hopefully can give directions for finding your house. The other driver follows in your car. You get home safely and it is cheaper than a taxi. Very useful.

Ok, I am assuming you are trying to figure this out so that way when you go out for the night you know how much you can drink without the worry of being arrested for DUI.

Ok, first of, there are many factors that influence your BAC. Age, Sex, Weight, Tolerance, Condition of your Body, Current Health, Amount of food you have eatten just prior, etc.

So, you can not just figure 3 drinks and I am legally drunk.
How many times have you seen a big fat guy "slammed" after 2-3 drinks but the little thin guy walk a straight line after 8 or 9 and not have any problems?

Oh and btw, working in the ER I can tell you there is a difference between "blowing" your alcohol, and having your blood drawn. And if they want to, they can draw the blood and there is no way to "hide" that.

Also, I can also tell you after working with the PD that there are other ways to get you arrested or ticketted if you dont blow positive. If the police officer has a suspicion, he can take you in. they have that right.

Better not try to be slick and beat the system. Just have a Designated Driver and this way you can drink til you cant walk, and then one you have someone to look out for your best interests and also a safe ride home.

I suppose you would calculate how much blood in litres there is in the body (I'm not sure of the figure) You can work out the amount of alcohol there is in a drink. Then do a calculation to find out how much you have inside you. Can't give any examples coz it's the end of the day and my brain is shutting down.

Find out the percentage alcohol there is in 1 Unit.
Multiply that amount to reach the legal limit.
Half the remaining amount each ten hours that pass.
It will take about three days to get back to zero.

Beer 4.5% Whisky Gin etc 40% Wine 14%
All % are volume related.

to keep within ok limits, ur liver detoxifies 1 drink per hour: 1 wine glass, i shot of hard liquer like vodka or whiskey, i beer ( 4-5%) or 1-2 mixed drinks
so bottle of wine within 4 hours shouldnt be a problem, this is a rought guide.
however, it still depends on tolerance, ht, wt. u may think u not drunk, but alcohol level is elevated

First take all the blood out of your body. Then put it in a spinning retractor machine to separate the blood and alcohol. Measure the alcohol in comparison to your blood level. BUT be quick, for alas, you must return the blood to your body quickly. Good luck.
