Invite them over to see your place and fix them dinner including a birthday cake (homemade or from the store it won't matter). Give them a bouquet of fresh flowers or even just one fresh flower. They will be understanding. The meal will be great and they will enjoy seeing your new place. It will make them feel special that you cared enough to invite them over and to do something special (cook dinner) for them. Most people don't really care about a gift it's just the being remembered and made to feel special part that people like.
