Panasonic Video camera...?

Anyone can advice me if I want to use external microphone when I shoot vodeo with my camera (the actor will be far from camera, then I want to record with extra wireless mic)..what brand??? how much....where to plug in ?

what model do you have? if its a consumer one ($400-1000) then it might not have a mic port. if it doesnt, dont read the rest, go out and get a canon gl2 (or at least a pv-gs500. for amateur filmmaking, which sounds like what your doing, then try to get a gl2 at least).

if the actor isnt too far away, then get a rode STEREO videomic (there are two kinds).
