You need to go to the police station to reg. the hand gun, but I had to go to the sheriff dept to fill out the forms for my permit. it's good for 3 years. Neb. Rev. Stat. 69-2401 thru 69-2425. That is the state statute. I own a 9mm. My hubby isn't to keen on guns, but he has fired it as have my older two kids. They also suggest take a gun safety course. I'm in Omaha by the way. Good Luck.

When I used to live in Lincoln, I just went to the police department downtown and filled out the form. They issued it to me right away, but there is a fee involved. However, this was about 10 years ago and the laws could have changed by now. Also, if this is a concealed weapon permit, it could be different. I would probably start by calling your local police department.
