This Question is NOT posed to people who are fat for medical reasons - perhaps a thyroid problem - It is posed at the people who choose to be big fat repulsive slobs

Saying that obesity is repulsive isn't the same as saying obese people are repulsive. The condition is repulsive. It not only looks awful but it takes a dreadful toll on the body. I'm sure most obese people are perfectly nice people.... Personally, I'd say it's their own business how fat they are except that I'm fed up of getting wedged between two fat people on long haul flights.

I agree. Ok so certain obese people might have "problem glands" or whatever but the vast majority are that way because of their terrible eating / exercise habits. There really is nothing else to blame other than for whatever reason, greed laziness or whatever, they over eat and never exercise. Most people are a bit over weight, that's not so bad, but obesity is repulsive and theres no excuse. These people are killing themselves with cream cakes - its terrible! I'm sure they are really "beautiful" people inside but for me over weightiness and obesity isn't about looks - its about health and the fact that these people are shortening their lives! I'm not trying to preach here because I enjoy a takeaway twice a week and I wouldn't give up chocolate for anyone, however I go to the gym at least four times a week every week without fail so I never put on weight!

Last month I was technically obese and after losing half a stone I am now just classed as overweight. I don't look or feel different, a few years backn I weighed around 5 stones more than I now do and I definatly feel healthier after losing that excess weight. I doubt that even if I became underweight to the point of being almost a walking skeleton that I would be any more or less repulsive.

I think that weight is never an issue, ( by the way I am 5 10" weigh 16 stone flat but have only 9% body fat so the scales say I am very overweight but the reality is very different).
What is the issue is the fitness level and genearl happiness and health of the individual. Too skinny ie 5'4" 4 stone is not attractive in my opinion either.
Personally I find anyone bleating about their own weight as a turnoff and those bleating about others clearly have issues of there own they should deal with before involving themselves with other peoples problems.

I come back from a couple of months in India earlier this year, as soon as i was back the first thing i noticed was hoe overweight people in England are, so many fat arses and overweight kids, its not good at all.
I think it's a propblem within our society and its wrong to pick on individuals as it is part of a problem that comes from the way we live our lifes. Look at people from the states then you get an idea of what we look like to other countrys who are healthier. Processed food, and lack of activity is to blame. To much time on the internet, in front of the t.v and down the pub and too much time at work !!!!

Obesity is repulsive, I agree, but remember, underneath it all there's a person with feelings. I feel bad for people who are grossly overweight, they must be miserable. Here in the US it seems there are more obese people than average size people. Too much fast food, and sitting around being a couch potato doesn't help. So many people don't seem to realize the importance of exercise.

Say and feel what you want Ryan. Many humans are not identified with their physical form which ultimately is an illusion we all create and agree to believe in. It is only our minds which attribute different psychological qualities to it. Some people are liberated from those who are shallow. I know it sounds like an idealistic cliche but it actually is fact....I don't expect you to understand this either...It is for the benefit of those out there who are a bit more intuitive and enlightened. Many carry the light of love and universal compassion which is much brighter and outshines the darkness of ego you carry in your heart. Ultimately when you make these judgements you are actually saying more about you then others. Good luck man.

Obesity simple means you are more than half as heavy as you should be for your height and sex.
Clinically obese people are those who are double or more than double the weight they should be. Both are nothing to be proud of because both mean you will DIE long before you should because your heart has to work too hard and your arteries have more lard in them than blood. Both also mean you have an eating disorder and need medical help to get well, there is no such thing as big boned and anyone who says they absorb fat through their skin and cannot help it, need the most help because that is delusional!

I just get fed up with this repeated question.
Why is it that it's the overweight people (no I am not by the way, but know people who are) who get put down.
What about the stick thin anorexics, they too don't look after themselves, in fact they are worse as they starve themselves or eat themselves silly and make themselves vomit.
I know normal sized people who eat every five minutes, and all the wrong stuff. And I know others who are overweight yet eat three normal meals a day.
How about giving this question a rest.
