My fiance' and I have two cats. Reece (girl, 2) was his from before and we got Buddy (boy, 2) about 5 months ago. They fight a whole lot, sometimes its play, sometimes it gets nasty.
Every time I yell "Reece", Buddy comes and takes the attention. I am positive that they konw the tones are different for their names. Buddy is an attention hog and won't let Reece, who is more kept to herself, have us petting her and talking baby talk to her.
It gets very annoying to have him take away her petting and loving time. How do we get the message to him that it's her turn for petting, not his? Please NO comments about getting a dog. I don't want one.

Also, Reece is very timid, and so when Buddy comes to take the attention away from her, she runs. Its hard to tell Buddy "no" and still have her stick around. I think he takes advantage of that fact.
