I dated this girl once who worked for Borg Warner in Chicago... at their Christmas party, we had the best food ever at the Palmer House-- still remember most of the menu... Seafood Bisque soup, Beef Tenderloin medallions with Merlot reduction sauce, haricorts verts with garlic butter sauce, smashed Yokon Gold potatoes with butter and truffle oil, and Tiramisu for dessert!

My first date. I was fifteen.

Steak Diane, scallops bourginone, and seared vegetables. Creme brulee for dessert.

It was lovely. That boy really knew how to treat a girl!

oh gosh, my taste is very southeast asian... dunno how familiar are you with the diet there.

this is how my favourite meal would go:
-chicken sate (grilled pieces of chicken on a stick) with spicy peanut sauce
-gado-gado (steamed salad made of string beans, cabbage, bean sprouts, spinach, egg, and tofu)
-lontong (blocks of rice cooked in banana leaves)
-tofu omelet (garnished with crispy onion, spring onion, peanuts, chili, and soy sauce)
-and for dessert: fermented rice with coconut milk and brown sugar syrup

other than that, i also enjoy going to food stalls in central java. we'd sit on a straw mat on the ground in front of a low table and have fresh grilled seafood over hot steaming rice, some raw vegetables and sambal terasi on the side (chilli sauce flavoured with fermented shrimp) and drink beer or hot orange juice (it's nicer than it sounds... btw in southeast asia we make the juice out of a different type of orange, it has dark green skin but is sweet, juicy and orange in the inside)
