I overheard my 17 year old son and his sister arguing yesterday after he woke her up in the middle of the day. 13 year old girls shouldn't be sleeping in the middle of the day unless they are on drugs right? And she kept yelling about some guy called "Dirty Sanchez." Sounds like a Mexican drug dealer's name to me. I told them to stay away from Mexican gang memebers.

your daughter is "smoking dope" as we call it in "the biz".

keep her far away from the mexican border, i would hate for her to become a drug mule, she's had enough things put inside her for now

as for sleeping during the day... it could be that she's up all night doing a hat dance - its a gateway dance.

First of all, I am not a parent, so I don't have experiece in this regard. As for her doing drugs, I don't know. I mean, it isn't that uncommon for a teenager to have a nap. They need more sleep than adults. Maybe she was up late the night before. I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. Do not threaten to make he go for a blood test. This is only make her mad. She will experiment with things like smoking, drinking, drugs and you can't really stop her unless you watch her all the time. Just make mental notes of her behavior patterns. Have they changed at all?Encourage her to invite her friends over to your house. That way you get to know what they're like and if they seem like the type to be involved in drugs. Dirty Sanchez is probably someone's nickname. it's not a mexican drug dealer. To find out what dirty sanchez is read this:

taking a nap in the middle of the day is not a sign of drug use but a sign that she is tired, Don't read to much into everyday things. If you are concern about drug use, first check with your son he may have knowledge that could prove useful in this situation. Than talk to your daughter not be over dramatic that has a way of causing problems. Check the web for real facts of drug use signs

well my brother has never done drugs, or drink alcohol or anything, he's 15 yrs old and sleeps during the day and stays awake at night because he's up all day watching tv, using the computer and texting his friends. So just ask what it is she does at night that keeps her up all night. I used to sleep from 12 midnight to 1 in the afternoon when i got out of highschool and on the weekends when i was in high school, if my dad let me. Find out who " dirty sanchez" is, ask ur kids or other parents or even the school. if ur that worried at drug stores like Longs, Walgreens they have home drug test.

Come on!That's silly! When I was 13 I also slept in the middle of the day sometimes but I wasn't on drugs. And that's another thing - if your daughter uses drugs, you can stop her only in case she is locked in her room for the rest of her life.Using drugs is different than misusing drugs.Misusing is dangerous but using is not that bad as many parents thin.Of course I'm againts drugs but if your daughter uses them, you must show her your love(love,no matter she does) and respect and decide what to do,like "If you want to use drugs, use drugs,I can't stop you but I won't let you do it in the house" or "Using drugs may not be a problem for you but the fact that I can lose you is a problem for me".If you decide to forbid her anything or take privileges or punish her...it will only help the situation get worse - your daughter will hide and she won't tell(confide) you anything.I'm sure you don't want it.If your daughter uses drugs, she has problems and she doesn't feel strong enough to get over them. You have to support her in her growing up and let her know she won't be punished for the confided to you. It's better for you to know what does she do instead of making her hide everything.Because, trust me,she will find a way to hide it and she will continue doing it.I can recommend you a book "Positive discipline for Teenagers" by Jane Nelson. If something can make the situation get better, that book will help you how to do it.Good luck!

talk to her - most of the times if kids are doing drugs its because they are bored or lack something more in life.. does she have after school activites?? I dont mean like every day but if she wants to be involved with something its good for her - cheerleading, horse riding lessons, give her a reason not to do drugs
also be home for them after school...
simply telling a kid to stay away from mexican drug dealers isnt going to do it....a drug dealer is just as likely to be white as anyother color and telling a kid to stay away only makes it more appealing

talk to her and explain how you care about her and don't want to see her hurt. Then go into the drug speech that we all got when we were kids. Tell her that she needs to stay away from the gang member because she could get killed even if she is just hanging out with them.

well...yes they should stay away from ANY drug dealers so lets not get caught up in a classification based on race...i agree that at that age she just may be tired; does she play sports...you need to just let her get a physical...her periods may be zapping her and there may be an iron deficency... don't be so quick to cry drugs...she may be bored at home, especially if their is a lcak of communication dur to narrow-mindedness

I am not trying to be funny be she could also be pregnant (better then drugs) and you need to go through her stuff (room, bed, book-bags, purses, even cell phone) when she is not at home or sleep! Be a snoop...it just might save your daughters life!
