I would not want a husband that didn't put God before me. How can he be a leader in my home. Bring peace and balance and the love of a father if he didn't accept and understand the love of Christ, and the headship of God in our lives. I find nothing wrong with having God first in our lives, actually I am very proud to say that "As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord".

p.s. I am not a second class citizen. I am the daughter of the most high King!

A religious pursuit is the most important thing in life, bar none. We are not supposed to be dependent or develop clnging attachments to people, that isn't real love. When the wife you've poured all of your energy into dies, what are you left with?

As finite beings, we need to make God and religion our first priority, with family coming in second. There is time for it all, but it has to be placed in perspective.

My wife and I both worship the Creator, rather than the creation.

We are both thankful for what Jesus has done for us.

We both accept and respect God's roles for us in marriage and the family. Humans -- not God -- assigns this false worth elemnt on one over the other. Men are to be the spiritual leaders of their families -- that's biblical. They will also be held accountable to that. Woman are to submit to their husband in this role...woman are also in charge of their household. This is not because they are have any less worth than men.

You will find that families that put Christ at the center, and are obedient to His commands, who claim their roles and do the best they can, are most often peaceful and blessed families. God made us and assigned roles...He expects us to be obedient. That in no way prohibits women from being the best CEO's, Nobel prize winners in Science, or jet fighter pilots. This whole 'worth' debate is a manifestation of mankinds sinful jealousy and rebellion.

Why should they put their wife above God? The man and wife should both put God above themselves equally, a triangular relationship.

God
/___\
Man Wife

Make sense? The husband and wife are equal to each other, but are not equal to God.

God is eternal your wife is only temporary. In Heaven your wife will no longer be your wife. Christ told us that in Heaven we will be like the Angels. Not given or taken in marriage.

To be the best husband you can be you must put God first so that he can sow a seed in your heart as to what his will is for you as a husband.

I love my wife but my God/Jesus comes first. I expect the same thing for my wife. She couldn't be the wonderful wife she is if it wasn't for the fact that she puts God/Jesus first.

Same thing if you want to be a good parent.

It should never be the other way around. When i get married i want my husband to put God before me. If we both do not love God first then the love between me and my spouse might not be as strong. God is love so therefore if you love him he will bring you love!

The only reason I can think is because God is the only one that can give you true happiness and life after death. NOt your wife or any living person, not even your parents. Hence why the bible says "you must hate your mother and your father and love God more!"
