Wushu is a very prevalent form of Kung Fu in China and literally means "Martial Arts" in Chinese, which also has ties to the Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong Martial Arts as well, but is the more aggressive discipline among the three whereas Tai Chi Cuan and Qigong are more passive Martial Arts.

it's also one of China's major sports in competition and exhibition (Jet Li is a 5 time champion), it was created as early as the 12th century if not earlier in the Zhou Dynasty.

there is a lot of acrobatics, and flexibility involved in this martial Art, mostly it was formed as the basis of the Chinese Theater, since it was taught to most of the actors in the theaters Troupes.

Jackie Chan was endentured to the theater at a young age and has now become the martial artist an stage and screen star he is today.

First of all, it's "Wushu" not "Wooshu" but Wushu is a type of martial arts that was taught to people of china and japan to have them learn a lesson. Wushu is not suppose to be a self defense nor self offense type of Martiala arts. It suppose to teach the person who uses it about life. How does it? Well that's for the user to find out.
Wushu means "Skills"

I should know, my name is Choro Kunyatazakie and i am from Japan myself. So i know alot about martial arts.

"Wushu" is either a generic term for chinese martial arts, or else it refers to a specific style of choreographed, acrobatic/gymnastic chinese martial arts based on traditional chinese martial arts like shaolin kung fu, etc. There's also some sparring involved, but I think most of the emphasis is on exhibition.
