From working in prison in the US I would tell you not to disrespect anyone. Follow the other inmates lead.
Last but not least don't go to prison.
Of course I'm wondering if you were to be incarcerated, how the heck are you here? Waiting for trial? Or is this just hypothetical?

I have never been to prison but I know people who have. The obvious things are: If you drop the soap, be careful how you pick it up!
The main things are to not speak to anyone and if you do, dont tell them too much and do not say anything to make them jealous or to give them a reason to hate or hurt you. Do not appear weak when you walk and the way you behave.
Never threaten anyone!!! That is a big NO NO!
Just keep yourself to yourself and keep your nose clean/ head down and you might get out early for good behaviour!

I would agree with what most are saying, apart for the silly ones about bending down.
Just keep a low profile be amiable to everyone, and like the last person said do your own thing, read as much as you can and learn, think about what you are going to do positively when you get out, exercise regularly, do not give advice or be opinionated as this will lead to trouble.
Do not lend too much trust in anyone if any.

seriously, looking for tips on how to
"survive" prison? Are you expecting to die?
Suck it up, work out, read and do your own thing, get comfortable (or numb) to your environment then you will probably find people to relate to.
Don't get tatoos, they are not sterile and that is one of the leading causes of disease spread in prisons, along with....... um yeah don't do that either, I guess unless your into it.
Just don't be a wimp. You might get your butt kicked but take it like a man and don't tell the guards anything about another prisoner.

I'm not answering the question I'm afraid, but just a comment. All those people criticising this guy...have you never done anything wrong? Okay not everyone does something serious enough to receive a prison sentence, but I'm guessing that none of us are perfect angels. Its entirely possible that this guy has just made some bad judgement calls or mistakes that have led to this. Of course he could be a complete a**e, but I don't think he would be on here asking for advice if he was.

Im not from the UK, nor am I an ex-con..but my best bet is do get yourself some good friends...maybe even a boyfriend and if you drop the soap...don't bend over to pick it up, unless you're showering with your boyfriend.

hey, you might not get out of going to prison, but incase you dont i guess the only bit of obviously advice is not to bend ova in the shower to pick up the soap!! ;)

My ex went to prison and he loved it he just played playstation all day and watched dvds or went to the gym... hope you like relaxing!!
