My favorite? Geez, that's a hard question. I own a limited edition ported, two tone stainless Witness in 45acp. The next one I buy is going to be a Para Ordnance P14-45. Yeah, sweet! I love em all though.

Conceal carry-- many a good gun to be had. Bersa has come out with reasonably priced compact conceal carry pistols in 380, 9mm, and 45acp. Real nice feel in the hand (which is a very important factor by the way). They shoot well to. I had one I held back when I moved out east in hopes of checking it out at the range. Real nice.

If your into revolvers, any of the S&W Featherlights are great however, they are a bit exspensive.

Taurus also puts out a large-large variety of conceal carry pistol. Mostly revolvers though.

So your looking to step up? That's great! However your also asking about concealed carry right? This is a after thought I had to add in. Keltech 380 and .9mm are extreemley popular conceal carry semiauto pistols that are pocket friendly . They are light weight and small and don't have a history of reoccurent jamming issues. problem: They don't have a safety which makes them illegal in a few states here in the US. As for stepping up! Heck-- You should get yourself a nice XD 1911 or purhaps a Para Ordnance 45acp?

In an auto, I prefer Ruger. In a revolver, a big bore S&W is the standard by which all others are judged. I'm not recommending a .500 Mag. with a 10" barrel for concealed carry. I looked a Taurus once, I don't recall the model number, but this thing was about the size of my hand, a 10-shot auto, and you could get it up to a .45 ACP. It really blew my mind how they got 10 rounds into something the size of Saturday Night Special. If I was going concealed carry, I'd try to look into this Taurus again. My wife has a Ruger P94 .40 S&W Auto; it's great for home defense or a side arm, but a tad bulky for concealed carry.

Well, my favorite MODEL of handgun is definately the 1911. I have seven though, and although the AMT Longslide (which was the cheapest) is probably my favorite of them, I might have to say my Remington XP-100 .221 Fireball is my favorite overall handgun. I got my CCW mainly just so I could have a loaded gun in my car with me all the time and the XP is basicly like a rifle that is technicly a handgun. I put a 3-12 Burris that has good eye relief for a pistol scope (or any scope for that matter) and I can group at about 3/4" at 100 yards. Honorable mention, Taurus revolvers in general ( I gots a .17 Tracker, a 608 .357 and a Ragin Bee, and they all shoot great and they don't cost a lot) and the H&K USP series.

My duty carry pistol is a Glock Model 20 .10mm w/15 round magazines. I have an inside-the-pants holster for this and can 'conceal' it under a light windbreaker or jacket. I also like the Colt Python (have two, a 4" S/S & a 6" Royal blue) .357 Magnum and can also conceal them in an inside-the-pants holster. My Glock Model 31 .357 Sig also hides well in the Model 20 holster. A very handy .357 Ruger Security Six S/S w/3 & 3/4" barrel hides well in a boot holster and is very potent and surprisingly accurate. The smallest gun I carry concealed is my S/S Beretta Model 3032 Tomcat .32acp automatic. I load Silvertip Winchester 60 grain hollowpoints, or Fiocchi 60 grain hollowpoints in this. It is also surprisingly accurate for such a small pistol.

When you qualify for your ccw permit, use an auto. This will allow you to carry either the auto or a revolver. If you qualify with a revolver, all you can carry is the revolver (you will have to re-qualify again if you switch to the auto. For a revolver, I like the Smith & Wesson model 10 (it's a .38 special with a 4 inch barrel). For an auto, the Beretta 92FS is my personal favorite. I have a Smith & wesson chief's special (the auto version, not the revolver) in a .40 cal as a concealed.

Tough Question. I wear depending on where I am at. I carry any one/combo of the following:

Kimber Ecplise. Nice 1911 .45 ACP.
Ruger GP-100. My typical hiking gun. .357 with a 4 inch barrel
Ruger SP-101. Nice 2" .357
S&W 6906. Nice dependable 9mm.
Kel-Tec P32. My carry anytime gun. .32 ACP is not the best for self-defense, but beats having nothing.

1st get training. A revolver is simpler to train with and in general offers the ability to shoot different types of ammunition (.357 can shoot .38 specials, .44 mag can shoot .44 specials, etc.). Cost is often less and with speedloaders can be a very viable defense weapon. The semi-autos are generally slimmer profile, require more maintainence, and take more training to use safely, but also offer the ability to maintain accurate controlled fire for longer periods of time.

For a 1st time buyer looking at a CCW I would recommend a sturdy J-frame size .357 either the S&W model 60 or Ruger SP101. I would also recommend a 3 inch barrel in both.

For a semi-auto, I'd opt for the Glock 17 or 19 or Sprinfields XD series in 9mm. The 9mm isn't my favorite round, but it is cheap to shoot, is a viable self-defense round (esp. with a well built JHP).

Both of these rounds the .38/.357 and 9mm are easily available, realitively cheap to shoot and are not going to break your wrist with recoil.

Browning Hi-Power, is my current gun of choice. However being a duty sized gun, it gets to be a problem to conceal come summer time. So I'm looking to buy a smaller back up/ summer gun. The Taurus PT-957(discontinued) in .357 sig or a Taurus 905( damn they make stuff then stop!!) 9mm snub or their 7-shot 357 mag snub. The Kel-tec .380 is a great choice option as well since it's light & small.

My favorite handgun is a Colt 1911 but for concealed carry I prefer a Glock .40 cal Model 23 .

Unless trained on how to respond in an "emergency" situation - Life threatening - I recommend a revolver as you need not worry about jamming or misfires. Should you experience a misfire with a revolver, all you need to do is continue pulling the trigger until it fires. Depending on the of concealment location/method, I also suggest a hammer-less revolver to prevent any chance of an accidental discharge - you MUST pull the trigger to fire. I bought a S&W 340PD for my wife as it is the smallest and lightest .357 currently on the market. I liked it so much I purchased one for myself. Good luck and happy carrying - the 2nd amendment is America's orginal homeland security.

favorite handgun of all time is basically any 1911. favorite single stack 1911: Kimber Tactical Custom, favorite double stack 1911: STi Eagle 6.0 with full length frame. you gotta check that gun out its awesome!

As for a CCW gun, i would go with a .50 Desert Eagle in a nice shoulder rig. no one ***** with a desert eagle.
