None. Absolutely NONE. I want the Koran in the library, I want the Bible in the library, I want the Satanic Bible in the library, I want smut and depravity in the library (though preferably in a separate adult-only room).

I want there to be no subject taboo to the library because the moment you silence a voice we are all irreparably enslaved.

Not a one of 'em. Actually, I think more controversial books need to be written and distributed to libraries.

I have to say, I love Banned Book Week; it's bad that people want to ban books, but it's absolutely awesome to see that in this day and age of media and technology, books can still ignite so much passion and fury in people. Viva controversy!

ETA: This has me all excited now. I think I'm going to call our local library to see if we can do a reading of "Howl" tomorrow night. (We have a thing about reading "Howl" in public, because it is one of the most awesome poems ever written. That and impromptu stagings of Godot.)

I think banning books from public libraries is a travesty.

Fahrenheit 451...read it, for those who want to ban books

No books should be banned. In this country, we have the freedom to consume whatever we wish.
But, since our freedoms are being eroded anyway by an oligarchic theocracy, I guess anything that criticized America or rich white men or furthers womens' or blacks' or Hispanics' rights should be OUT! We cannot have dangerous people endangering white hegemony. Also, anything that even touches sexuality must be hedged: one man, one woman, proper and efficient positions. Anything other than this is EVIL and should not only be banned, but burned. Oh, and childrens' books which teach kids how to respect others. OUT! Kids should be taught only how great it is to screw with other people and countries. So Mr. Rogers, you're GONE! Bill O'Reilly, welcome to the library. Teach kids how to hate. Teach them to be afraid of dark people. Teach them how to screw with poor people. WONDERFUL!

The ones no-one is reading should be removed. Libraries have limited shelf space.

Not a single one! If a person does not want to read a book, then that does not mean they have any right to restrict others from reading that book. Down with censorship! :-)

No books should be banned. Where does this shite stop? It should be up to the parents to decide what their kids look at, not the religious or the government or the FCC.

None of them. Banning books only breeds ignorance and intolerance.

No books should be removed but there should be special sections for certain books that are not appropriate for younger people.
