If you read the Koran, you'd realise that Islamic laws are there to protect women. Let me put it this way, more women, per head of population, go to University in Iran than in Switzerland.
Turkish women got the vote in 1929. Swiss women in 1971.
The first European country to have a woman prime minister was the UK. Then Turkey, and Ms. Ciller didn't wear a head scarf - but she did visit Bosnia during the war, accompanied by Ms. Bhutto, Ms. Thatcher did not go with them.
Get real - a woman has the rights she takes. I've seen a lot of hen-pecked Muslim men and a lot of subjugated Christian wives.

No. Just because a person happens to be a woman and Muslim, it does not mean she is automatically degraded. There are millions of Muslim women the world over that led normal fulfilling lives. We just do not see them because they do not 'look Muslim'.

Al hamdulillah im a muslim woman, im not degraded in any way & neither does islam degrade women, (all this is just a common perception of the west).

muslim women are absolutely degraded - and through no fault of the Qur'an or the basic Islamic doctrine. It all has to do with the fundamentalists and the simple fact that they can rule with an iron fist because they want to.

Nope.... We are not I think your question is Fair though. I am an engineer I own my own business my husband and I work side by side so I think we are not if anything my husband treats me like a princess. I think is all a cultural thing, I am an American convert and to me it is like in some cultures women are treated like Cra----- p pardon my word just because of Local customs but this has nothing to do with Islam....
