Depends on the laws of your state. 60 days in jail for no insurance sounds like a load of bull though. Heck, in most states you don't get 60 days in jail for driving under the influence. Usually you get a "fix it" ticket where they give you 10 days to come in with proof of insurance. If you can prove that your car was insured when you were pulled over, they dismiss the ticket completely. If you can't, then you end up paying a fine, and depending on the laws of your state you might also get points on your license.

Driving Without Insurance Texas

Go to Court and please try to have some insurance when you go, OK? Take your proof of insurance to show the judge. Listen to what others are saying before you. You can say you were on your way to talk to an insurance agent when you were pulled over. If the judge asks why you not get it that day. Then you say, I was too upset after I got the ticket and went home and cried, I try to do right and I just go further into debt! Might try to force a few tears then and some sniffles! Heck, if someone brings you a Tissue, you know you OK then. Maybe a small fine!
IF, people are already using this story then you need to re-group and have a backup. Judges have heard and seen them all, and, they get tired of the same story over and over and over. So, You not want to Bore him, a good Judge wants to see Creativity in a young person. I not sure, but, maybe say you needed your front brakes fixed and felt it was most important to avoid having a wreck. Then you were going to get the Insurance a few days later when you got paid again. Remember; "I just try to do right, and life is all against me" Few tears (No over kill on tears) some sniffles. IF, someone brings you a Tissue you OK.
If, you are fined then, tears and sniffles, and ask now what I do? I could barely fix my brakes and get insurance. The Judge will send you over to the Court Treasurer (You will see this happening as you wait) and you will setup a repayment plan.
Good Luck; and remember A few tears and sniffles and you be OK! Dress Nice!! Like you going to Church.

I think it's different in every state, but in Ohio if you don't have insurance and you get pulled over it's an automatic 90 day suspension of your driver's license. You must have insurance.
I would be really pissed off if I got into an accident with someone
that didn't have insurance and it was their fault.

I doubt they are going to send you to the hooscow but they will no doubt give you a fine that would have probably paid for your insurance.

You'll get a hefty fine. And your insurance premiums may increase.
