Hahahahaha! Veyr funny!!! Russian is my mother tongue and I just was wondering this moment how "Molodesc" translates into English!!!!! :D Cool! But I still don't know this! This word is untranslatable! But It's a very good word ;)!!! It means you are great and have done something very good and made a great success! Yes, it's said if somebody have succeded in smth and you want to tell this to them! People usually appreciate it very much when they are told this! Anyway if you know the English or Italian analogue for this tell me please! Because I juat needed to tell this to a friend who has passed the exam :)!

Masha is right. Ukrainians use this word too. In English we'd say, "SUPER" as a compliment to someone who has made an impressive accomplishment

I would think it probably derives from the Greek "Mólóch"; the Greeks borrowed the word from the Phoenicians, and they had a God named Mólókh; a not very nice bloke.... he lived exclusively on children and demanded human sacrifices. In what context did you find it?

Molodets means "well done" in English. In Russian it derives from "molo" (small) and "odets" (father). Thus... you are young, but you did something as well as your father would have done it...indicating great maturity...... especially for someone your age.......what ever that age may be.
