Oh, I guess you have to be a dental hygenist to answer this, but your question line didn't say that. Thanks for the points anyway.

Yes hygiene school was hard - long days of classes with tons of homework - high pressure to find patients with the right degree of difficulty and the possibility of failing clinic just because your patient chose not to show up. A very stressfull time and also a stressful profession - Dentists keep saying that they need more production but when your schedule is full there is a limit to how much can be billed in an hour. Not every patient needs scaling and root planing particularly at every appointment.

Ok so I'm thinking of becoming a dental hygienist, I have already done all the research I can do and get, and I'm in love with it, but the question I have is when getting and appying into the program, what do they check I saw that they do a background check I owe on some tickets(speeding no insurance) will this affect me? I'm already going to pay them, of course and what do I need to make sure I do get into the program I don't want nothing to stop me and then I have to wait a year or so?

You need to not be afraid of a challenge! If this is what you want to be then your'e better off just "going fo it". Don't ask your parents. Don't ask your boyfriend/husband, etc... ! And certainly don't ask us on the Q&A our opinions. Don't be apprehensive! I will tell you this though. It's a very diciplined profession. It's not all that difficult if you dedicate yourself. You need to study and sacrafice teenage philosofies. (forgot how to spell that)

dental school is hard. hygiene school is a breeze. it's just 4 years of college and you're done. most people do that anyway. plus, at $50 an hour, i think you can make it worth your while.
