they have a SEPERATE party for New Years, and you don't see everybody saying "Happy New Year" around Dec. 15th! most of the country is Christian and so is most of the military!

Thank the atheists of America for that. Last year, it was Wal-Mart that was affected. They couldn't greet you with "Merry Christmas" and they weren't allowed to prominently display anything with that. It had to be "Seasons Greetings" or "Happy Holidays". Then came Easter. The same group of protesters forced them to remove all religious items celebrating the holiday. They could sell items, but couldn't paint their store windows and such like they typically used to do. Seems Easter is too religious for that group. Now, it's even affecting the military. I wrote a letter to Wal-Mart telling them that group represented a small group of people and if they let them push them around again this year, I wouldn't be doing my shopping at Wal-Mart. All we can do is make our voice heard. We have to protest the removal of Christmas harder than they do. So stand up and be heard!!

Well... the federal government via the courts were forced by lawsuit to separate government agencies from overt religious events...

Back in 1980, my California school district renamed the "Christmas Break" as the "Winter Break"... same with the formal, the concert, etc. Easter became "Spring".

I think however, that boycotting the party is a tad extreme... instead, find an outfit what exclaims your Christmas Spirit !!

I was raised Jewish, but never had a problem or felt put upon with my Christian friends and neighbors... and felt more than happy to be greeted with "Merry Christmas" and to pass it along

Personally I LOVE the music, decorations, and ALWAYS make a Hannukka Bush (that strongly resembles and smells like a Christmas Tree).

I think in attempt to not offend some people, they are offending many others. At school, they don't go on Christmast vacation anymore, it is "Winter Break". We have a Christmas tree farm in our town and it used to be called "Our Christmas Tree Farm" and a couple years ago they renamed it to "Our Holiday Tree Farm"!!!!

As for a party, though...I would not be too offended. You have Christmas, New Years, Hanukkah.. There might be jewish soldiers and maybe you can feel good knowing that THEY will feel welcome at the party this year. It's a party during the holidays....go! Have fun! T

what, so the party is only for Christians? what about the Jewish people and their Hannukah? do they have to have a seperate party just so you can stuff your own beliefs down everyone's throat? What about agnostics and atheists, Buddhists and Muslims.. they can't go to your party because they aren't Christian?! Whatever happened to the famed tolerance of the Christians, hmm?

The Chaplain's prayer before any event is NON DEMONINATIONAL. it isn't just for Christians and their over inflated egos.

go, or don't go, it's your right as an American to choose for yourself. But that does NOT mean you get to choose for others.

ETA: hey, Helo Pilot: FYI.. its been proven that Jesus was NOT born on December 25th. That census thingy was taken earlier in the year.

For those of you blaming all of this on atheists you need to be hit in the head with something.... I'm Atheist my husband is in the Air Force and we don't care what they name it they could call it Jesus Day and we wouldn't care.... Maybe you should talk to the other religious people that ***** about Christian Holidays... I know a **** load of Atheists who celebrate Christmas but not the religious part of it they celebrate Santa Clause... So why would we want to change the name to something like Holiday Party... And I think you should do some research on how many Christians there are in the Military... I think you'll be surprised, Most claim they are Christian but could care less I know alot of military people like this... They never go to church and they don't pray before any meals... So to all of you who blame this stupid name change on us Atheists please get over yourselves... WE could care less...

Not every one in the military is a Christian, in case you haven't noticed. Be glad they're still recognizing it as a Holiday Party, and not a Winter Get-Together.

I would start a Petition on base and write letters to the base CO and my Senators and Congressmen, that is ridiculous,The pc police need to be stopped, It offends me that our children can't even say the Pledge of Allegiance in school because of one word(God), If you make enough noise you might get something done, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Maybe they are celebrating the new years as well, beside Christmas is a "holiday" isn't it?

Either way you are certainly entitled to not attend the Holiday Party if you are offended.

I understand your point, and I too have heard about these. I'm not saying that I necessarily think this is a good idea, but if a couple of people are complaining about it, I think they have some kind of a point. But what I think they're trying to do reflects our foreign policy: bringing the airmen together, regardless of religious affiliation, to have some fun.

Its a shame what liberals, athiests, and other complainers are doing to our culture. The word Christmas will soon be a bad word thanks to these complainers. The only thing we can do is keep liberals out of office, and hope these destroyers of America dont get thier way anymore than they already are. So do your part today by smacking a liberal upside the head, and hope it knocks some sense into it!
