its a slight crack in a bone caused by it being hit.

Hi well a stress fracture is a partial or complete fractures of a bone often called fatigue fractures.Stress fractures can develop over a period off time to.Stress fractures are normally seen in the lower limbs Tibia,Femur,Metatarsals.Symptoms of a stress fracture is redness,inflammation,and pain in the specific area.An x-ray is the only way to find out if you have one.

I went to the hospital yesterday because I was suffering from continous headaches. They x-rayed my brain and discovered it was fractured from stress. A specialist asked me many questions about my family life and diagnosed me with a wife and kids stress fracture of the brain. Hope this helps

It is as it sounds, an external stressor causing microfractures on the bones.
Whether it is repeated activity, or osteoporosis which makes them brittle, and they fracture, that is what it is.
