They can be best friends...and even if one does fall for the other one, they will get over it if the friendship is strong enough.

It's good to have someone of the opposite sex that you can talk to about relationships...it helps having another point of view sometimes. So far, we have been friends for over 20 years, and we are both glad we never got involved romanticly...after all, if I had a problem with her...who would I talk to about it?

About 99% of my friends are men. At first it's fine..then they try to see if maybe you could be up for more. Always! But being honest with them, they realize your a great asset as a friend. It's a good thing. And you always help each other out trying to figure out the opposite sex.

Yes. it is possible for girls and guys to be just friends. I've had a friend for over 3 years now. He is like a brother to me and he respects me mostly now that I have a boyfriend now.

if one is ugly or gay then yes. but i think you will always have this territorial thing over your "friend" and thats prolly cuz your falling for them and want them to be with you and only you...if that happens then check yourself and your true feelings about the person.

Think "When Harry Met Sally" ... they were "just friends" but then what happened? Mind you, if Meg Ryan was my friend, I'd want to hump her too!

Maybe they can be friends - but one of them has to be a real minger or something so the sex thing doesn't rear its ugly head!

Sure you can be just friends with the opposite sex. One of my bestfriends is a guy, and I love him very much, but only as a friend.

My husband has a plutonic girlfriend of 17 years. She was on his side of the bridal party, and we named our daughter's middle name after her.
