if multiplication is the converse of division then how do amoeba's
multiply by dividing

It's not really dividing since both halves become like the original.

When you divide 4 by 2, you get 2. Think about that...

You used 2 to get 2.

Think of "4" as an amoeba. When you divide it in half, you get 2 and 2. or, 2 smaller amoebas. You no longer have the 4 though. It's been cut in half.

Every time an amoeba splits than more amoebas are created. For example, if you start with one amoeba, then it can split into two. Those two will split into a total of 4, and those four will divide and create 8, etc.
