i am totally sad. Two days back one of my cats was surrounded by three street dogs. They smashed him before we could save him. He was severely wounded near the stomach area. The dogs have bitten him . There were two big injuries of atleast an inch deep. The blood has clotted.Yesterday we took him to the hospital. They gave him a ARV(Anti Rabies Vaccine) and cleaned the wound with tincher and applied an white paste. two days my cat did not take any food. i had to make him take some milk with a quarter of a tablet mixed in it. The doctor gave a cream (I think its some sulphate cream for preventing bacteria) and adviced me to apply in the wounds. I did that perfectly, but my cat shouts in pain and soon after shouting its cleaning the wound. my bothering is that will the cream go inside his mouth and cause any side effects? will it do any harm? please answer me.

The doctor wouldn't have given you anything that would harm your cat if it engested it. They know cats clean themselves quite often. If it is really bothering you that bad, go back to the doctor with the cat.

If your cat shouts in pain, take him back to the vet and gt him re-checked. Then, request pain medication. There is something called a 'fentanyl patch' which is applied to a shaved area of the skin, it gives pain medication slowly for about 3 days. Also, ask for a properly fitted Elizabethan collar. If you cat is not eating and drinking, they may need to give him fluids either by IV or as a pocket under the skin, which will absorb slowly.
The white cream MAY be silver sulfa-dine, which is often applied to surface wounds (those that look like road rash, but NOT to deep punctures) there are several other creams that it might be as well. One way or another, if your cat is eating it, then it is not doing it's job.
Pain interferes with healing, eating and drinking. Please call your vet. Don't wait.

I'm sorry, but what is the matter with you people (not you, Kanna)?!?! Do you think it's safe for you to swallow a bunch of antibacterial cream that you would put on one of your own wounds, too?

Kanna, ask your vet if it is harmful for your cat to ingest this medication. Or even look on the tube for a product warning. If it is unsafe, get an Elizabethan collar for him. Also let the vet know that the cat seems to be in extreme pain - the vet may prescribe a pain killer, too.

That is sad, over the weekend i was at a close friends house, his mom breeds chiwawas, ... or whatever, and he breeds boxers. Well somehow 2 boxers got out and went after a really nice cat, the bit it badly, blood was comming from the cats mouth. The dog that bit him around the neck got a taste of blood. When that happens, there is no going back for the dog. You cat should be fine, just watch him close. Its all about attitude, give him lots of love, seriously! I grabbed my shot gun out of my car and shot one of the doggs head of, ... litteraly. IT would have killed more cats if i didn't. I didn't want to but you need to keep an eye on thoes dogs. If there on your property, shoot away!

I am not an expert but I own three cats, and I know how bad you must feel. I think that if the vet gave you that cream to use, that it will not hurt the cat if she licks it. But, to ease your worries, why not call the nurse at the vet's and ask about it. They are there to answer your questions. And the best of luck to your poor little kitty. I hope that your cat fully recovers.

you will need to get an e-collar to put on him to keep him away from the wound. and yes it does hurt when you do clean it it will be sore for awhile til you are able to have the stitches removed, then you will have to watch him so he does not try to chew his wound. you should take him back to your vet in about 7-10 days to have a recheck on the wound to make sure it is healing well.
sorry to hear that this happened to you, did you file a report on the owner for doing this to your cat, i would have .

specialist suggestion inevitably ability that someone has a wealth of genuine sensible adventure of a particular breed to entice on. this can contain its heritage/clarification why it changed into created, an appreciation of ways the dominant features & temperament shapes the way a canines will imagine & behave, has worked & proved canines hostile to the classic & owned different examples of the breed. What i attempt to provide is a *considered* opinion in holding with 15+ years of possessing, showing, operating with breed rescue & autonomous study. i'm conscious that the genetic inheritance of a canines will set the parameters of what a sensible proprietor can income & that as each and every canines interior of a breed is someone, it truly is merely no longer a carbon reproduction of my canines & can not be envisioned to reply the same way. My suggestion is for this reason generalised to mirror this truth & human beings can evaluate it, then study the breed further or opt for to brush aside it out of hand. i visit't sugar coat the truth of possessing a Dobermann, because it does no-one any favors least of each and every of the canines. Blunt definite, yet when i visit dissuade one incorrect man or woman from committing to possessing a breed it truly is something yet basic to own, then i visit guage it to be a job nicely executed. I completely savor that i visit in no way comprehend each and every thing & which will continuously be better to study. i do not blindly stick with the advice of absolutely everyone in Y/A, yet when that is an intelligently written, substantiated & theory scary aspect, i visit take the time to study, evaluate & likely act on it.

Tell your vet the cat seems to be in a lot of pain and is licking the wound. Some pain may be normal but the doctor may want to give you an Elizabethan collar so that the cat cannot get to the spot to lick it.
Oh and in the future, please please please keep your cat in the house!!
