I am not from Alabama, but in response to GitEmGang's answer, I have a 7 year old JRT who has been awesome. I agree she isn't typical, but they can be great dogs, she isn't agressive, she doesn't dig or tear things up. She is smooth coated & does however shed a great deal. I have heard that the females aren't as wild as the boys, but use your own judgement. Also, if you have a fenced yard, that is the best. I keep my dog inside, but she would chase cats & squirrels if she could get out of the yard. Also, she is a great mouser!! So much for a cat! There are a lot of JRT rescue missions, good luck!
