Ok I went on a date last nite with this guy and we went to the pub where his mates were. It means his mate that he was having the conversation with was cheating or had cheated!!

more than likely, his mate was just winding the both of you up. its a good sign that he's taking you to meet his mates, that means he probably thinks highly of you, and is less likely to cheat if his mates know you.
i wouldnt worry about it - he may have made mistakes in the past or he may not have done, but dont let it stress you out. if you badger him about it, he'll just get annoyed. i'd forget the comment if i were you

Its a wry comment to his pal. What he's alluding to is this guy who said "Once cheated always will" has done the same thing and has a lot of nerve preaching about it.
Another remark would be "Yeah...that's like the pot calling the kettle black". It means the same thing.

maybe your date is one of those guys that lets a girl run over him. you know how some people always look at the bright side of everything, maybe he was in a lot of those relationships where women have cheated on him and he forgave them and they did it again. he's a man that's been mistreated repeatedly...
on the real side, it sounds like he gets around and his game is strong enough that he does it repeatedly.

Apparently it's quite alright for HIM to cheat, but when it came to his g/f, it wasn't!!! Kind of a one sided relationship there, don't YOU think????
