Usually vaccum 2 times a day and that will clear up the fleas in hour house. With your cat Revolution is the best thing. We use it on all our shelter cats and none of them have fleas. If your cat is on a flea control program the rest of the fleas in your house will die off with time no worries :)

STOP PUTTING BABY POWDER ON THE CAT! You'll make him sick! Baking soda is pointless, too.

If you want it out of your carpets and don't mind the mess (and don't have babies crawling around) Borax sprinkled on the carpet can work. But it's messy and you really don't want to be breathing that stuff in or have your cat licking it off his paws.

We use Advantage here on our 7 cats (you can save money if you buy the size for a dog and dose it out of the same vial for a cat...this was suggested to me by my vet. It is the same medication at the same concentration for both dogs and cats)
You can get it at the vet or online at some pet-meds supply sites. It will kill the fleas on the cats within 24 hours, and usually the remaining fleas in the house will be dead within the week .

Of all the treatments out there, natural and not, this seems to work the best.

We've used Frontline and some of the spot stuff you buy at the pet department by Hartz...dont' waste your money on either. The fleas will be back in 2 weeks!

Don't bother with some of the other suggestions listed...they don't work.

Boy can I relate. Fleas are best treated by being prevented. It will cost you a bit now to get them under control but it is possible. A systemic treatment from the vet is great-Advantage or Revolution have worked for us for years. You will also need to use a house spray that will kill the current batch of fleas and stop the eggs from hatching and the larvae from developing. Some last for a couple months. We have not have any problems for about 15 years since we started using the systemic approach on our dogs. The treatment is well woth the peace of mind it gives you and the relief it gives the pet, especially if they have an allergy to flea bites. Best of luck to you.

Ortho Home Defense, you can buy it at Wal-Mart and K-Mart and places like that to spray your home, once it dries, it is safe for animals and children. Now, to put on the cats? I recommend the product Revolution, you can get it from your vet, and maybe your feed store will carry it. You can get it from 1-800-PetMeds also, but your vet will be cheaper! Baby powder and baking soda do NOT work on fleas, and can make your cat sick. Good luck with your problem.

Try a product called Seven's Dust. It is safe to use in your home, around plants and pets. You can sprinkle it in your carpet and dust your pet with it as well. You will also need to treat your pets with Frontline or something of that nature to keep from re infesting your home. The foggers and things will work too, the Seven's Dust is just a little less trouble. You can sprinkle it on the carpet let it sit for a while, vacuum and repeat a time or two.

you opt to be very careful with kittens. in the journey that they are too youthful you won't be able to apply something on them for the fleas. seem at him gums and in the journey that they are dwindled, you opt to take him to the vet right away, he would have anemia from the fleas. it will be a strong theory to take the kitten to the vet in any journey and locate out what they recommend. in case you'll keep the kitten, you opt to make confident you get it vaccinated and it will be a strong theory to have him examined for aids and leukemia. Then the responsible portion of do will be to have him altered even as it really is time. If money is a situation, the community animal shelters many times have a low value health middle the position you could take your pets for vaccinations and to have them altered. Pets should be very intense priced! you could purchase a field of Borax laundry detergent and sprinkle it interior the carpet (or you could purchase the intense priced stuff from the vet, lol). that can help with the fleas. strong success to you both!

the only thing that really works is something designed to actually kill them. use a flea powder on the furniture and carpeting. to keep your cats from bringing more fleas in, I find that Advantage works best.

Revolution on your pets. If it is in the carpet, make a solution of boric acid and table salt and sprinkle it on your carpets. It is suppossed to dry out the fleas, eggs and larvae. Leave it on for two days and then vacuum. If you use a vacuum with a bag make sure to change the bag because fleas can live in that.

Use frontline on your animals. vaccuum daily. If you want to check and see how bad your flea infestation is leave a pie pan (shiny) with soapy water and a bright light over it on your floor at night. In the morning check and see how many fleas you have.

i seem to have the same problem. the fleas seem resistant to all flea treatments this year. i give my dogs a flea bath every week, wash their bedding done and put hartz one spot treatment once a month. my husband got this spray stuff from his hotel. its from orkin, try calling a pest control company up and they may have it to buy. i don't recall the name, i do know it is about $200 a can and it works for 7 months.
