Age and ability and if you have any health problems such as a bad back or arthritis. That is why there are senior flex graphite shafts for example.

Swing speed is the single most important thing in shaft selection

secondary things which matter at a very professional level is things like Torque & wrist torque(how strong your wrist turn the club face)

Speed of swing is the only one thing I know of that matters. Preference is another I guess.
