Idol worship is forbidden. Not so much because Christian believe that idols are "evil spirits" but because God has never revealed what he looks like. Any attempt to make an image of Him would be wrong. If they did, it would begin to limit man's presception of God to what they see in the stone.
Plus since there are no idols of the true God, any idols you worshipped would be of a false, non-real, God and would only confuse and twist the truth about God. So he He has forbidden the creation and worship of idols.

i don't think of Christians have faith idols incorporate evil spirits or are fake gods. The sin of worshiping idols is a private one and has not something to do with the idol itself. there is totally one God.

I think the Bible says something like...don't put any idol before me...which doesn't really exclude idols, it just assures a certain position. The whole evil thing or legal thing is a sectarian problem.

It is not what i think it is what God thinks, and he clearly says no to it in Exodus 20 and in Deut. Even giving idols names of christian saints as the catholics do is still idol worship, it is similar to what the children of Israel did by making the golden cafe and saying it represents God and starting to worship it. The catholics do the same and even kiss and adorn them.

Consider what happened at the foot of Mount Sinai? Today's Christian can seem to avoid repeating the same mistakes.

idols take worship away from the living God. Therefore they would be inciting God wrath...and jealousy. Wisdom would be to love God and not get him angry right?
Love does not provoke or cause jealousy...it is the perfect way to please God Love him and obey his commands. It would be wrong from the heart and from the law!
