Hello, I am hoping that you will re-consider and make the ceiling and carpet in grey with the walls black. The black ceiling and black carpet will really close the room in. The accent colour can be any light colour, but to be a dramatic affect for a male room a light grey blue. Good luck

The black ceiling is going to pull the ceilling down on you and make it feel clausterphobic unless you like that feel - which is fine. Are you going for a teen room, a grown up room - what? I mean you're not putting stars on the ceiling right?Black is a neutral. Anything goes. Do you have a favorite sports team? A favorite color, jacket anything that has a color(s) that you love? Pull your colors from that. I know at Home Depot they have a little booklet of colors that is all sports teams. Have fun with it. It's just paint.

Use a black rug on the floor, a medium grey paint on your walls and charcoal for your ceiling , dark cherry wood and brushed metal furniture. If your putting up pictures use black frames....if your putting up posters with out frames, paint the wall black just behind the poster to create a border and frame. To add color use color on your bedding....blue will stay within your neutral dark tones, but try some red with throw pillows. You can have the scheme you like and have a pulled together look in the room.

It depends, do you want an adult look or a more youthful look. I'll assume adult. I nice collection of black and white photo's might be a good addition. A mirror with a black frame. And I agree, you need to bring some other color into the room for accent. It can be pillows, a throw blanket, even art. With black and white for your base colors any accent color will work so choose your favorite. Another idea, if your good at making stencils (my son makes awesome stencils of old-time actors, actresses and musicians) paint them on your wall and hang frames over them. Let us know what you decide, I'm sure it will be beautiful.

Your room is basically square shape. How about focusing on basic shapes. White Walls: paint different shades of a bright contrasting color in overlapping shapes. i.e. light orange circle overlapping an orange larger circle. Frame art or posters in black or the contrasting color.

How about black and white pictures on the walls (that you take) and have them put in red frames? Then just put a hint of red elsewhere in the room....lamp or chair or leather cube.

Gathering samples is a great way to begin. If you are starting with a color, your samples might include fabric, paint chips, wallpaper, carpet, wood, stone, and tile.

If you add white blinds you can then bring in colour in your furnishings which you can change from season to season without costing too much.
