It is possible, and I'm sure there are many who have. Me, I rely upon mnemonics and intense repetition to remember simple things (like where I put my keys... my memory is really horrible), so being able to quote it from memory would be a daunting and lifelong task for me.

However, I study prophecy and parables quite a lot, and can give a general location for whereabouts of many prophecies and parables are (the parable of the sower of seeds is in the first half of Luke; the parable of the harvest occured some time before Jesus said "Render unto Caesar..."; Nebuchadnezzar's dream is in Daniel, and the Revelation version is in chp 13; and the prophecy of Bethlehem being Christ's birthplace is in Micah 5:2). Beyond this, I know a specific few locations and can quote them (Genesis chps 1 and 2, John 1:1, John 3:16, Isaiah 9:6, 2 Corinthians 13 [not exact, but pretty well], John 15:18, Revelation chp 18 [most of it, not exact though], Exodus 20:1-17 [The Ten Commandments], and Proverbs 31 [beginning at "A virtuous woman, who can find? Her price is worth more than rubies...", admittedly, I can't perfectly quote that one either]).

All I can say, are blessed are the ones capable of doing so. Such an act is commendable and praiseworthy, but neither required nor prohibited. Me, I settle for remembering the general jist of everything, without having to remember each and every word.

There have been many through the years who have (Martin Luther was one). But due to the size of the volume, which is a library of 66 books for the Bible or 39 for the Torah, it has not been many.

Anyone who wants to memorize either is permitted.

Anyone who wants to read either is permitted.

To answer your question has anyone committed the bible to memory?
Yes! We had a brother "Franz", one of the anointed who could give extensive talks on stage, and quote for hours from the bible without using it. We could easily follow along in our bibles what he was quoting. Never an error.
And we have many brothers and sisters who can quote much of it as well.
Only those with Holy spirit can do it.
Call us a cult if it makes you happy, but we have God's blessings!

We memorize certain verses that we find especially enlightening in our life. However, I have never heard of anyone being able to memorize the entire Bible just due to the length involved.

I may not have most of it memorized, but I know where to go in it for answers and encouragement.

Brother Franz spend a life time helping others understand and translate the Bible. When he became blind in later years I believe he could quote most Scripture. Great mind and great heart.
