My daughter was taken to Univ. Hospital, Syracuse,N.Y. last Oct. and was tested and told she had TM, since then diagnosis is MS. She is dealing with student doctors, and always ends up with new people. She needs the attention of experienced MS doctors. She has extreme burning in her legs, impaired vision, heavy numb feeling (or lack of feeling) from rib cage to toes. No bladder or colon control. She is willing to be part of a research project. I need to get her help now. Do we have to have physician referral?

she needs to check with her neurologist regarding research programs in the area and decide whether or not she fits the criteria and is willing to participate. she's 40 years old, and unless she's totally handicapped and under your care, you shouldn't be taking on this responsibility.

i also live in upstate ny, Canastota, ever here of it. Ask the Doctors at univ. hospital where the closest specialist is for tm, and ms. There might be one in albany which isnt that far from syracuse. You will have to call your insurance company to see if a referall is needed, if so just get a referral from her current doctor. Good luck

Have you tried Mayo in Minnesota or Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. I would at least give both of those places a call.
