Ash ~
Stick to the old ones, they've been around forever and are well proven. Slide on wraps, gel wraps are all garbage. Nothing feels better on a closed fist than being wrapped in traditional cotton herringbone weave wraps with just the right amount of athletic tape between the fingers and around the fist and wrist.
Manufactures are always trying to pawn something off on people. Save your money "If it isn't broke, don't fix it." The most important thing here Ashley is to wear what's comfortable to you, if you like the slide on wraps where them, if you like traditional wraps where them it's personal preference and yes, you can wear them in amateur competitions.
Good luck Ashley.

Ashley use the herringbone cotton handwraps, you'll save money.
Also the advantage to the old handwraps is that if you tweak a knuckle or are a little sore in the hands you can change the pressure of the wrap and also give that injured part of your hand and extra wrap.
