i know alot of people took offense to this question but they shouldn't, it is a legitimate question. i am in iraq right now, due i feel ashamed, NO. i do not believe in this war, i believe i have been lied to also, but it is my duty as a soldier to be here. everything i have done here has been a great thing, i have helped and saved the lives of more iraqi's and u.s. forces than you can imagine. I am very proud of my service over here, and if you are ashamed of me than you are a very ignorant person. soldiers do not decide where they go or how they get there, soldiers only decide on their own principles and values.
support your troops

Nope not at all. I proudly served in Iraq. I tell everyone who ask I served in Iraq. I did my job well, as did all that I served with. I was so proud of my units accomplishments that I re-enlisted and volunteered to come back. Didn't quite make it back. I'm in Afghanistan now and still proud.
My turn to quote Gen Patton, "The most vital quality which a soldier can possess is self confidence; utter, complete, and bumptious. You can have doubts about your good looks, about your intelligence, or about your self control, but to win in war, you must have no doubt about your ability as a soldier." 99% of those I serve with fit this description.
For you and the other 1% (that get interviewed and put on television) he also has a quote. "The pacifist actually refuses to defend what defends him; his country. In the final analysis this is the most basic immoral position."

Aren't you ashamed that you're a total idiot that can't come up with new material?? You make me sick. Just because you change 1 or 2 words doesn't mean it's a new question. Same sh*t every day. Typical Erudite hatred spam. People like you play right into the terrorist hands. They see derogatory remarks like this and think they have a chance. In fact, you're probably paid by them. After all, you do admire them. The ONLY lie is YOU!!

Hi Douche bag,
I see Mommy let you on the computer again.
Are you running for office yet ? Oh, that's right - you don't actually want to put forth any effort to make things better, you would rather complain and whine about everything you don't agree with.
When will you actually do something about what you don't see right in the world ?
No guts, no integrity, no discipline, no loyalty and a serious lack of self esteem is what keeps you from making a change in your life for the better.
Have a nice warm glass of shut the fluck up and go back to your wet bed.

"If you call yourself "erudite" are you ashamed?
Most likely you are, due to the fact your assertions are based on your own stupidity"
"Dirty pogue. " HAHAHA!
Ditto. I think you should just hang your head in shame. If you didnt like you time in the service that is fine, but dont try to guilt others into feeling ashamed for doing a job. Wallow in your own misery and shut your gall. During my time in Iraq I did nothing but aid Iraqis and make attempts to help rebuild infostucture. I've been IED'd more times than I care for, yet I continued to do my job. If you have another stupid question please help make the world a better place by holding it inside you until you explode you clown.

No service man or woman should need to feel ashamed of serving our country. Its attitudes like this that harmed emotionally many servicemen after viet nam. Don't blame the soldiers for the decisions made by their officers and the president.

Ashamed?!?
Erudite... For someone who claims to have served in the military I can not believe you would ask this. I've seen several of your posts and I can't believe the military would have wanted you.
You are a troublemaker plain and simple and you should be ashamed.
The men and women who have served our Country honorably in Iraq are the best of the best.

PROUDLY served my Country -- have siblings that PROUDLY Served my Country, and the generation before me (my parents, 1st Generation American Born) proudly served our country as well - during WWII).
It is the sacrifice of all these Proud Military Veterans that allow for someone like you to make these inflammatory and biased postings.
