22 years sober here; guess what, there's no easy way, YOU have to do most of the work yourself, it's hard, it's painful, it makes you unhappy sometimes. It is YOU, not your higher power who must do the work. God will give you some of the strength for it, but YOU have to want it.
AA is similar programs are the best, but still only about a 40-60% sobriety after ten years.
OK if you don't like it, the option is to continue to drink. Eventually you'll die from alcoholism, one way or the other. You'll have an accident or your body will just give out. You've been in the program, stop whining, do the work.
No sympathy from this corner, sympathy is enabling. I do feel empathy for you and hope you continue to seek the support you need. Life is different, and amazing "free" when you finally know that you have your dependence under control. Alcoholism is never cured, but it can be stopped by not taking the drink, ever.

Ok so you say you are an alcoholic, so I have some bad news - No alcoholic has ever managed to drink controlled for a long period of time - It eventualy gets worse or even worse than it was before. Even if you cut the spirits out and drink low alcohol beer - the results will be the same - this is because alcoholism is a disease and for that there is no cure. The problem with the disease is that it tries to convince you that you don't have it - or even make you feel that you can be the exception to the rule that alcoholic's can never drink normally - this is perfcetly normal to think. Whatever you do - AA will always be there for you when you are sick and tired of being sick and tired. Maybe you should get you big book out and start reading it again.

Well, first and foremost, you have to really be committed to quiting and not doing it anymore. Secondly, you should get involved with friends and relatives doing activities that will take up your time and keep you busy doing more productive things. Also there are some very inspiring books that you can read that will give you some great things to think about to regarding your life. I read a book by Charles Stanley, " The Source of My Strength " and it was a very thought provoking book that gave me some very good encouragement when I was going through a very tough time in my life. I wasn't an alcoholic, but I was going through some tought time that made me want to drink all of the time. Once I started doing those activities and kept myself busy, only then was I able to get my life back on track and move on and have a very fullfilling life, as I have now. I hope it helps.

I think controlled drinking is much harder than stopping completely. I tried many times over the years and couldn't do it. Even Moderation Management suggests laying off the sauce for 6 months before trying to moderate.

Drink non-alcoholic beer. Nothing wrong with that.

difficult enough with support--can you truly get through without? there are known cases where "true conversion" to Christianity works. are you a Christian with faith to get through this? maybe one on one counselling?
