I live on my own and i find it really hard to get the motivation to actually get up at 7 in the morning just to go college when i could stay in bed and meet up with mates who live in the same building of flats as me and have fun. I would really like to know if there are other people out there with the same problem or just anyone who could give me advice on how to make myself go seeing as i have been in my second year of college for three weeks now and only gone 5 days so far!!

HELP please!!!

Ask yourself how easy it will be to get out of bed when you have quit and are sitting on welfare.

If you really cant find it in urself to get up and go in then maybe you're in the wrong course? But it might motivate ya to just think of all the catching up u'll have 2 do if u miss too many more days or the prospect of having to repeat exams at the end of the year... I no what ya mean though, even though I really like my course I'm finding hard to get back into it after a living on a beach for 3 months... But the longer you leave it to get back into a routine the harder it gets... Just think, only 8 more months till next summer!! :)

Well.. you sounded like me.blah blah years ago...and i will tell you , life is alot harder without that education.. you will get low paying jobs, ones that you might flat out HATE.. and if you get one of those jobs, as you get older and want more ( a nicer, safer place to live, a new car) to get those things, those low paying jobs becomes your life, because you have to work so much to get enough money... its harder to go back to school later.. so here is what i would suggest to you.. put some self discipline on the schooling.. even if you don't have a full course.plus always have an interesting or fun class to keep excited(an arts class.. whatever you like) but also give yourself some time to play too..you have a long life and school is such a short time of it, but it effects the rest of your life.. good luck and get your b*** back to class!!

Self motivation is the hardest!

But like many people it is the only motivation available, so maybe rewarding yourself going to college all week. And of course the added bonus of going to college will lead to a better job which equals a better life and more money.

Or you could sit in your pants all day playing PS2 and smoking the sense out od your head.

You have to want it to motivate it?

It would be helpful if you could get your friends at collage to encourage you to go in more and return the favour for them. Make a habit out of meeting them in your lessons each day. Get a few early nights if you have to be up early and have the intention of going in in the morning the night before. You need to do something about this now if you are missing collage this early in the year, as otherwise it will only get worse.
When I really need to do something that I am prone to missing, I make a mark on my calendar each time I am successful and try to get through a set period without missing single mark. It really helps me cos I know I will feel bad if I miss one.

Think about what living in poverty for the rest of your life will be like: never enough for what you would like to have, lack of self-respect, lack of respect of others, where you live, the people you meet.

The other "people in the flats" will grow old poor, a burden on their country like you or get their priorites straight and you will be left out. Older than all the other dudes and resentful.

By the way, who is paying for your absentee college education or is it free in your country?
Who pays your rent, food, utilities or are you already a burden on society?

Depends entirely on what you want to do with your life. College degrees open more doors for more interesting job opportunities. I don't know you, so I don't know anything about what motivates you. What do you like to do? What do you do currently to make money? Do you want to do that for the rest of your life? Would you like to get married and have kids some day? You really need to evaluate these things.

Weel, the motivation is this -- get off your rear end and get to class or FLUNK OUT of college and know that you will be working flipping burgers for the rest of your life and not having any real chance of having a decent job, with a decent income, and no chance of owing your own home, etc etc etc.

Simple!.
Wake up very early one day, lock the room and throw away the keys where they cannot be recovered. This way you will stick to college as you will have nowhere to sleep.
