Most people do not know that grapes and raisins are high in iron. But to get the most out of the iron rich foods you eat, have a glass of orange juice. Vitamin C and/or citrus helps you absorb the iron. Also, avoid caffeine because it depletes iron. My favorite way to boost my iron prior to a blood drive because I want to donate blood is to eat Total Raisin Bran and take a multivitamin with iron as well. All the Total cereals have 100% of your daily requirement of iron. Beef, chicken and fish all contain iron. My family is vegetarian so we boost our iron with supplements, the cereals mentioned previously, raisins or grapes, and green leafy lettuce and broccoli. Exercise and stress both can reduce your hemoglobin (bound iron) levels so even if you do everything right you can still have trouble getting that iron level up.
Men should be very careful with taking iron supplements. They could potentially overdose. The only way for your body to loose iron is through bleeding or chelation therapy. Most multivitamins do not contain iron or very little for this reason.

If you have been told that you are anaemic, then your GP or Hospital Constant would have put you on a course of Iron Tablets or even arranged for you to have Iron Injections at your GPs Surgery.

If you are just tired and not feeling well, has anybody told you to eat properly ?

Then the answer is to eat as much Liver,Red Meat, Green Vegetables or even go to your Chemist and ask them to suggest a Vitamin Tablets, you need to take the B6 strain but ask for there best advice first or go to see your GP.

If you do have to have Iron Tablets can I suggest that when you take them you do so with Fresh Orange Juice,as they are very Binding,Orange Juice breaks them down quicker in the System and you won't have a problem.

Hope you will be feeling better soon.

Eat red meat and lots of green leafy vegetables like spinach. Possibly see if you can take an iron supplement. Liver is a great source of iron but unfortunately you can't eat this while you're pregnant due to high levels of vitamin A. If you take vitamin C it helps you to absorb the iron. So drink some orange juice with your food.

As well as iron rich food such as leafy green vegetables or fortified cereals, you need to ensure that you have plenty of vitamin c to help your body absorb the iron. Starting the day with some fruit juice will help you to soak up your iron.
