Sounds like he's unsure of himself in relationships.

Best to keep him at arms length and don't get too involved...you want to be with someone who REALLY wants to be with you.

I've been involved with guys who've said that and then after a while they just break up with you for no reason.

hmm...it's alright to think that way, but always leave a space that there's a probability that what you assume is wrong. maybe the guy doesnt know what he wants now, but is very happy with what he's got. since he has no idea what he wants and what he doesnt want..then he might consider that he likes very much what he has now, but then he is not aware that it is something not of great importance to him..get me? hope so...

NO. Everyone has an idea of what they want. Saying he "doesn't know what he wants", is either a stalling tactic, or something for him to hide behind for some reason. Maybe he's shy, or maybe he's just not sure if he wants what he has. Eventually he'll figure it out for himself. Don't force anything upon him

No. It's very unfair to assume that. His words could mean almost anything. Maybe his source of confusion is related to knowing he wants what he has, but something needs to change for him to feel more comfortable about his choice.

Well not always I was "seeing" a guy that didnt know what he wanted and after a little while he decided that what he wanted was to be with me exclusively

not necessarily. whereas women tend to prioritise their man above everything else, men can only think of one thing at once (no offence meant), so if they happen to be having issues in one area of their life, it could be that their girlfriend is just not a high priority.

you'd need to be a bit more specific about the situation.

yes it fair to assume that. i think its his way of basically saying if something better comes along he will take it.
forget about him, hes obviously a moron

Not necessarily, but most probably...yes!
Guys are usually very active towards what they want, when they are totally convinced about something/someone.

deffinitely not.
the entire purpose of dating is to find what you want in your marriage partner. and one should only date someone who they might like to marry. dating should never be just to have someone... or just to gain a sex partner. your guy sounds like he's just being honest, and realistic... he's just telling you- "i'm not 1,000,000% possitive that i could spend the rest of my life with you yet."
obviously, the object is to be 1,000,000% sure you could spend life with someone.

don't sweat it. he's not bad.
"assume": makes an "a$*" out of "u" and "me"

That's a fair assumption. We usually know what we want.
