I went to a french cafe the other day and had a toasted sandwich it had some sort of french cheese melted on top it was a creamy texture and color but a lot of flavor to it. Anyone that knows french cheese could you please tell me what you think it might be??

That definetly was du chèvre (chaud) ;-) = (warm) goat cheese

It often is served warm on salads or toasted sandwiches. Probably the piece of cheese was round- sometimes they also add some oregano.

by creamy i suppose you mean its half hard cheese(hard crust but soft centre). Since the French specialise in that kind of cheese it's impossible to tell without more detailed information. The most common examples are indeed Brie or Camembert but both of these are white in texture, but there's a few 100 other cheeses that fall in this category. From the rich flavor thing my guess is you got goats cheese. Try looking for Brebis. that's a common name for half hard goats cheese

It might have beens goats cheese if it had a lot of flavour, but I can't remember what its called! I think it begins with an R if that helps.

Camembert is tastier than brie on the whole, so I doubt it would be brie.

It may have been brie or camembert. It's not easy to tell the difference but camemberts a bit more runny.
