I dislike blaming hypocrisy on a religion. Hypocrisy is a fault of some followers, not the religion.

All people are hypocrites at one time or another (some seem to live a hypocritical life). I don't think a religion, itself, is hypocritical. But in what searching I have done, I'm seriously leaning towards the Wiccans, as far as being honest... even when they are hypocritical. They take criticism well, true criticism that is. Not just someone pointing out things they don't like about Wiccans just because it's a different religion.

My religion is not hypocritical. I am Jewish. In my religion there are 613 Commandments. Some of them have to do with religious practice and others have to do with man's relation to his fellow man (man includes the word woman). Judaism and its holy men and women have never advocated doing violence against any people. It does allow for self defense so that it can respond to attacks such as whats currently happening in the middle east. Even though Christinity has done things throughout its history that you might consider hypocritical, what is happening today and from its very beginnings in the practices of Islam pale by comparison. One Orthodox Rabbi explained why G-d allowed the creation of Christinity and than Islam after giving his Torah to the Jewish people on Mt. Sinai. During the time of the Romans most people were pagans; how many of them would join that small group of Hebrews practicing monotheism and belief in G-d. So he created Christinity. But that proved inadequate in his eyes because of the idea of the Holy Trinity. So he allowed Islam to be created. Now that has proven to be inadequate because of all the fanatical thought in that religion so what's next?

As long as humans are imperfect, there will be hypocrisy. Thus, that is the reason for religion, to elevate the human from a hypocritical, imperfect being, to a more perfect being. One should not judge the religion solely on your experience with an individual or group of individuals, rather, study the actual doctrine and what that religion hopes to achieve in its adherents.

Buddhism isn't a conventional religion but because it focuses on practice rather than a set of doctrines and a holy scripture it really avoids hypocrisy in a way that the other major belief systems don't.

I wouldn't say hypocritical but rather full of contradiction. They all mean well ( I hope ) but seem to have lost a LOT of their original purpose. If Mohammad and Jesus came back today and looked at their faiths..I think they both would be very, very disappointed, nearly depressed, with what they see.

Siddha yoga meditation,I found to be the perfect path for me.I was raised baptist but had a problem with the "fairy tale " like view of the bible. I prayed directly to God ,please send me a teacher,he sent a Siddha Yogo "guru". HE taught the same things as Jesus but with much more clarity, GO to www.syda.org They have centers all over the world. Sidda yoga is various practices, that give you a closer conscious contact with GOD,there is no "joining" if you want to be christian, jew or muslim the practices will help you be a better one. LOVE

Yes. It is the Christian faith. Unfortunately many of its "followers" do not actual follow the faith and so they are hypocrites. The religion itself is not.

Hypocracy is not found in the religion, but in those who follow the religion. Hypocracy can be seen when people do not follow the teachings of the religion they profess.
