Iraq reluctant to go after Shiite militias
NO-TOUCH LISTS, OFF-LIMITS AREAS WORRY SUNNIS, U.S.
By Solomon Moore
Los Angeles Times
BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. military officials have stepped up complaints that Iraq's Shiite-led government is thwarting efforts to go after Shiite death squads blamed in execution-style killings of Sunni Arabs in neighborhoods across the capital city.

Although Sunni Arab rebel attacks remain frequent in the capital, U.S. officials, including U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, say death squads affiliated with Shiite militias have become the main drivers in Baghdad's rising sectarian killings death toll, which totaled at least 5,100 in July and August, according to U.N. figures.

However, the 8,000 U.S. soldiers sent to Baghdad in recent weeks to try to restore order have been largely prevented from confronting those militias, many of which have ties to Iraqi government officials. It looks as if the United States military will lose in the long run.

The US military is not afraid to fight. What the problem is who do you fight. The US could in a very short time eliminate the entire population of Iraq. Do you think that is what should be done. I sure do not. The US is desperately trying to get the Iraqis to take responsibility for themselves. The Sunnis and Shiites do not seem to be able to come to any kind of agreement and have turned Iraq into a civil war. Remember how long it took Ireland to settle most of its problems. the killing went on there for many years. Not on this scale but in reality not much different. There are so many issues involved with the Iraq conflict and the war on terror that no matter what any person prints it will only be a very small amount of truth. It will be a long time before the problems now will be settled. When people hate each other it takes a long time to change things because people teach their children to hate from the time they are born. Religions contribute more to hate than it does to caring. Beware of what you read.

Nice try Erudite. Although this time you listed an article, source and writer, it's a lie. Typical of your form. Erudite left off over half of the article and changed words around. I believe there is a law against that. This is actually a 2 page article in the internet. Words have been removed and others added to suit Erudite's cause. Yep, I'm sure there's a law against that. Maybe we can be rid of Erudite once and for all!!

First, the military isn't just there to kill anything moving. They have ROE (rules of engagement). Everyone thinks Iraq is all about going over there and killing anyone who looks like a muslim. We have successfully pulled Sadam out of power. That was are biggest problem. Now we have to help them establish a working government. A lot of people think we don't belong there but they really need us imagine if we had people just randomly blowing everything up with car bombs and land mines everyday. scared to leave the house cuz you dont know whats gonna happen. Im in the middle east right now so i know what im talkin about. Its not the soldiers on the ground that are scared to fight. Dont get it twisted. their are rules that have to be followed. You know if you enlisted and learned first hand you wouldnt be confused about whats going on.

The military are not "scared to fight". They are restrained by politicians, diplomats and spies for reasons only those people know. Or for operational reasons, meaning that they have not been supplied with adequate equipment and personnel. That's political too. Americans are fighting by proxy, a few soldiers mostly from poorer communities while the middle classes and the rich go shopping as usual at the mall. Or on Madison Ave., Georgetown and Beverly Hills.

Once again your Question and statement don't match. Plus it should be "ARE" not "IS" the USMC. But than again, I'm guessing that grammar and thinking "aren't" not "isn't" your strong point. Your statement ask if the Marines are scared to fight. Then your statement states they aren't being allowed to fight. OK! Which do you want to know? I've never seen a Marines who was afraid to fight. They are Americans, we alway love a good fight. They are probably frustrated at not being able to hunt down the enemy and destroy them due to politics in that country. But fear "isn't" not "aren't" mentioned anywhere in the LA TIMES article. Once again your hit rock bottom and started to dig.

Yet another in the long line of bogus article additions by the habitual liar named erudite.... he feels compelled to break the law (copyright law) and force things into articles to put forth his opinion as fact... the simple fact is that the more he does this and the more I and others catch him at this, the more he looks ignorant.

The added line, of course is "It looks as if the United States military will lose in the long run."...

Any time you see this habitual liar altering copyrighted content in such a manner, simply report the abuse via the link beside his post

You don't see Americans hiding, in crowds or behind women
do you, You don't see them, hiding in a Mosque or in a Burka.
They hide behind Islam. If the politicians get out of the way and take the dam press with them. The American forces would mop
the streets, with the xxxheads.

Its not the Army or the Marine Corp that usually makes the "no touch lists" you moron. They would be more than happy to go after those militias.

No, they aren't.
No it doesn't.

It appears that, once again, politics is getting in the way of our men in cammo kicking some @ss. After WWII people forgot how to win a war. Oh, yes we know how to dominate in a battle, but to actually win all aspects of a war it takes the willingness to kill all enemies, no matter who gets in the way.

To a chickenshit coward like you, it probably DOES look that way. Obviously you have no idea how the restraints of armed conflict hinder our abilities. We, as opposed to the terrorists, are supposed to fight in a civalized manner.
