I am fully aware that each drug affects an individual different than the next. With that said, surely there are some anti-depressants whose success rates (easing and making life more tolerable for the depressed) are higher than others.

I've taken Lexapro, Effexor, and Wellbutrin.

Lexapro = fatique
Effexor = sexually dysfunctional
Wellbutrin = dry mouth, constipation

I don't know what to do. I am tired of going to my doctor and "bothering" her with my problems. Yeah, it's their job to help me, but I feel as if I'm bothering them.

I sure feel your pain! I ran the whole gammit with psychotropic meds and I can assure you that THERE IS A SOLLUTION! Are you under the care of a psychiatrist or just a reg. doc? It sounds like it may be time to work with someone who specializes in helping folks with depression. It is SO treatable and it's just a matter of finding that "window" that is right for you. In terms of side effects, you just really can't know before-hand what will show up. In terms of fatigue, take the meds at night;Constipation and dry mouth, high fiber diet and maybe metamucil or Citracil and keep h2o with you. Alot of these side effects pass with a little time and there are some tricks to getting around them. I wish you luck, depression really sucks! God bless you on your journey! Love, Cindy C. ps Remember that your dr. is being handsomely paid for assiting you and you have every right to be greeted with a positive attitude, and treated with the best care! (I have felt that way many times, usually when depressed!)

I think the best anti-depressant is something that will make you feel good about yourself such as pride in some job you have accomplished. I have the tendency to be depressed but instead of depending on drugs I have to pay dearly for, I go out in the yard and do some work that I can actually see the results of in just a little while...or I take a long walk or just do something to get my mind off myself. Depression is a rather selfish endeavor, in my opinion.

A pill will not change the cause of your depression. Eat better. Clean your room. Get cleaned up and go out. If you don't have a job, get one. If your job sucks, look for a better one. Get in a relationship. Taking a pill because you feel depressed is for losers, no matter what the doctors say. It is thier job to sell you pills. Depression is natures way of trying to tell you to change. Masking the feeling with a pill is like painting your front door instead of repairing your house.

The best anti depressant is rigorous physical exercise/sports. If you are aware enough to so specifically explain the effects/affects of the medicines on you...you may show yourself the courage of making some good effort, and feel proud to get rid of this depression.

otherwise...depression is fatal.

I don't know the answer to this question, but I think that you need to take into consideration that more is involved in the success vs side effects than just the drug. Maybe you can adjust the dosage of the medication that works for you but causes you side effects. Good luck to you. Hang in there. I know it is hard when you are going through this period of finding the right medication and the right dosage for you, but you will get through it.

Exercise, sunshine and fresh air.

I'm a Chemist and normally I praise the value of pharmaceuticals. But anti-depressants are probably one of the largest shams ever played on the American public.
