Religion is a way of living that has been given by a teacher. This normally has a belief in a god or gods, though is not always case e.g. Communism could be classed as a religion where god is the state. There is normally one or more books laying out what the teaching is.

Faith is putting ones trust in something when there is no proof that the thing you have faith in is true and will not let you down. E.g. believing in God even though you cannot prove He exists.

The Christian Bible sums up faith like this

What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.
Heb 11:1 (New Living Translation)

What's the difference between Religion and Faith? Hebrews 11: 1-13:1-25 Shows us what and how Faith works. Religion can be Anything that a person or persons decide to "worship"! Faith is taking God's Word at HIS WORD! 2 Tim. 3:16-17 for a Christian is called to 2 Tim. 4:1-5. Also read 1 Kings 1:17-40. Either you believe our you disbelieve. We who are trying to be Christ-Like know what happens when we add to or take away from God's Word....Rev. 22: 18-19. I have yet to find A book written by a "proclaimed god" that was written by more than one Man that doesn't contradict itself. When you find such a book that has kept its promises as the Deity of Yahweh has then by all means enlighten me. For Buddha even his self claims in his teachings he is "Just a student looking for enlightenment!" And the only Book that lays Claim to be inspired by "The Living God!" Matt. 22:29-32. Heb. 10:26-31. 2 Tim. 3:16-17. So the challenge I leave to those who are searching. 2 Tim. 2:15. And by all means look to The Word and test it!

Faith is a feeling people have without it having to be analysied and argued about like religion. Religion has sprung up out of peoples faith as a means to pigeon hole people and setup a series of rules and dogma they must follow. Religion puts so much pressure on people that it almost destroys faith in some cases. Faith is that feeling inside that you can't quite explain but but you know everything is going to be ok. It is whatever you want it to be and whatever you feel is right.

Religion is the adherence to a prescribed set of teachings as set down by the men leading it and faith is a personal individual concept not necessarily shared with others. Faith is private, religion is all about the public justification of our actions

religion is people doing church, rules and regulations, that in my opinion is not relevant in todays society. Faith on the other hand is a very real connection between a person and God. Faith is something that is alive in the heart of the person that believes in God and the bible. Faith is not natural, its supernatural. It connects you to the supernatural realm in which God lives. Its great, its exciting.

Hi!

What a great question...

Even during bible times, this issue was sizzling:

The Samaritans were practicing a religion that had to do with God but outside God's prescribed manner of worship in the Law...Jesus said the following to the Samaritan woman...

John 4:22 "You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews."

(Just to clear up something,Jesus was not saying that salvation is of the Jews always, for after he rose from the dead, the partition between the Jews and other nations was broken.)

You see this Samaritan woman thought that the Samaritans also have a right to worship(at the time of OLD testament worship) as they wish when she said "Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship."(John 4:20)....but Jesus corrected that:

"You worship what you do not know"-

Religion is worshiping what you do not know! The person who belongs to a religion either worships God without to personally know Him through the Holy Spirit or he worships a devil...the point is, he thinks he is right just because he calls the "God" name in his worship.

On the other hand, faith has been proved in the bible, to be simply TRUSTING GOD ENOUGH TO PLAY BY HIS RULES! That's true faith. All people in the bible who acted out things in faith actually trusted God enough to obey Him and walk according to His commandments. If they failed, they repented in faith that God is forgiving...and they received their pertitions.

The definition of "Faith" is different from the The definition of "Faith" in most dictionaries.

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."

Let me illustrate faith, do you test if the chair is in good condition everytime someone offers you a seat? No!You just take a seat in faith that the chair will hold your weight. The same faith you use on chairs, you can use on God.You can trust in Him with your life, for He will not disappoint you.

Don't trust in man, man has mistakes but God is perfect in all His ways.

Hug!

We actually have had this questioned posted before. Religion is just a reference to the denomination you practice. Faith is your actual belief that what your religion has taught you is true.

I think religion is the set of rules, the constitution, faith is the belief.

There are the same. You have to have religion to have faith. And you have to have faith to have religion. Both are poisonous as they have no room for reason and logic. There are all blind faith. Spiritualism is above religion.

Faith is what religion requires of it's followers.
