the best advise i could give u is to tell you how i deal with mine. i train my mind by keeping people and things around me that inspire me to do better, if your around people that don't want anything out of life and don't care about their current situation you will become content, before you know it months / years will have gone by. focus on the things you enjoy doing that others may not.(there has to be something you like to do that your friends don't or you cant get them to do) locate inspiring stories(this is one way to remind you that it can be done).

as far as the kids- let them know that it can always be better or worse for that matter. pull knowledge from your past experiences. (struggles, making ends meet etc.) most important share with them what your feeling.

By believing that you are worthy of your lofty dreams, you can also teach your children that how far they can go, if they only believe in their lofty dreams and simply follow their hearts each day.

You are anyway teaching your children a lot, though most of it is subconscious, by the way you inspire them.

The best way to inspire your kids is to lead an inspiring life yourself that you will tell your children a lot more than you can ever convey through words, as kids learn so much more by the way we treat them and also the way we treat ourselves.

So the key to becoming a better parent is to simply becoming subconsciously and when you become more aware you can teach consciously. Better parenting is inspired parenting.
