It seems to me that if Jesus could perform miracles such as the bible claims, he would have done better to keep himself alive, rather then allow himself to be crucified and waste all that talent. He could've cleansed sinners while being alive, and continued healing. Nobody would ever have to be sick, because Jesus could heal them. Anybody who died could be brought back to life, like Lazarus. Everyone could be forever healthy and live forever. Wouldn't that have been more practical? Of course, that would keep Jesus busy around the clock, but God could create several versions of Jesus. By staying alive, Jesus would have acquired a lot more credibility. After all, seeing is believing. And I don't think other religions could top that, so they would eventually fall by the wayside, and Christianity would stand alone. Bingo ~ no more Holy Wars. No Crusades, no Charlemagne, no need for Oral Roberts, Ernest Angley, Jimmy Swaggert, or any other phoney baloney faith healers. What do you think?

Regina: why did he have to DIE for your sins? Why didn't stay alive and cleanse everyone's sins?

I think that what you describe would be an entirely different plan from the one management went with. Your "living forever" suggestion does seem to be a popular choice, but this is not currently being offered as an option, nor would it be at all practical if new people were continually born while others never died. There would be some 40 billion humans on earth at the present time had your suggestion been implemented in the time of Jesus as opposed to the mere 6 billion who are currently flooding the market to compete for jobs, housing, food, health care and transportation.
Imagine six times as much traffic on the expressway during evening rush hour. And the evening would become the morning and so one day would become another and the people would cry out with a loud voice, crying "Why can't some of you people just die already? Isn't two thousand years enough for you?"
And all the people would become sorely vexed and PO'ed with the Saviour for saving them so much better than they really wanted to be saved.
After all, you don't expect religious people to use birth control do you?

They didn't believe in him even up until his death. Some of his disciples thought he had not rose again on the thrid day even though they saw the healings and all the miracles he had performed on earth. Doubting Thomas didn't believe until he felt the scars in his hands and wounded side when he returned to his people. Why would we believe even if he had stayed an eternity? Jesus knew we would not believe, but as many as did recieve him; he gave to him the gift of eternal life.
Satan tempted Jesus before he was crucified and told him that he would give him this world; Jesus was aware that he was being tempted by Satan. Jesus did not obey Satan. He could have stayed on the earth.
He loved us enough to die for the sins of the world. His true followers are the only ones who will believe. He died willingly for the sins of the world. Without his bloodshed no one was worthy to call upon his name and be saved. The people had became so evil even the old sacrifices were no longer enough. It took the perfect human sacrifice. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

Well, you have to accept as faith that God wanted the Jewish people to sacrifice animals in the Old Testament to accept that Jesus's "sacrifice" was necessary and meaningful.

After the Jews were subdued by the Babylonians, the animals sacrificed by Jews to their God in the Old Testament became smaller and cheaper to acquire.
Eventually these sacrifices were altogether abandoned by Jews.

Does anyone really believe God requires us to sacrifice any living animal to him for any purpose at all????? I don't.

Given that Jesus was the son of God, a supposition I strongly disagree with, then I think it would agree that it would have made more sense for him to stay around and offer assistance to the needy followers that he had.

Christianity would have grown leaps and bounds.

EXCELLENT POINT!!! Easiest explanation to it, is that Jesus was no more than a MAN like you and me (well me... woman). He only had the privilege to be the messenger of God and His words that was sent through Jesus.

God performed the miracles. Which include the fact that God loves his messengers and will not let them be crucified. God replaced Jesus before crucifixion which left all Christians and Jews believing that we WAS crucified.

well it seems like maybe u have read some of the bible but what u didn't read is that Jesus died for our sins, all of our sins, he took the rap for our sins, if He didn't do it for us then can u imagine the torture we would have to go through to get saved. if we even got saved , or we would have to make a sacrifice, but in any event the results wouldn't have been pleasant

If we needed super human saviours for anything, what would be the point of science and research, faith and belief, and striving for something better? Faith requires sacrificing doubt, and giving yourself to it without needing external props, for it to be real. If you need proof, you don't have Faith. I think it would demean religion to have it otherwise.

G'day Mountainman,

Thanks for your question.

Sounds like a plan to me. Unfortunately, I don't believe the claims of the Bible.

Regards
