Once again the numbnuts and the uneducated abound. I, too, have dark gums and they are exactly what your dentis says they are -- your natural pigmentation and guess what I DONT SMOKE.

I was just reading an article yesterday, because my gums are slightly darker also..and i wanted to know how to get those beautiful pink gums..well there is a laser procedure that actually lightens them, i can only imagine how expensive it is, and you would probably need a specialist..Cosmetic dentists may have some more info on it for you.

I would expect to see melanin accumulation in your gums if you are naturally dark. I'm hoping someone can give an explanation about the pregnancy/smoking issues, because I have no clue about that.

I think it is the smoking... Smoking usually stains teeth and darkens gums but that depends on how much you smoke... And if you brush your teeth 2-3 times a day too.... Being Asian has nothing to do with darker gums... Afterall, I'm Asian and I have healthy pink gums... :D

quit smoking, this is serious. I have seen this before and it is from smoking. It may be a gum disease from the tar on the gums. Next your teeth will loosen and just fall out, just the front teeth and with little warning.

It probable is a gum virus. If you use chewing tabacco then it is very likely that it's from that. Don't forget to brush your gums!

smoking causes bad breath anyways, so just stop it! that's why you have dark gums. (you better not smoke or report me, because i said so!)
