Why do Zionists take such personal offence at antisemitism when the vast majority of them aren't Semites?

Zionists are largely descendents of converted southern Russians, that's why lots still dress to impersonate wealthy Russians from the 19th century when Zionism was invented with the help of misinterpretation of the bible. The term Semites is applied to a group of peoples closely related in language, whose habitat is Asia and partly Africa. The expression is derived from the Biblical table of nations (Genesis 10), in which most of these peoples are recorded as descendants of Noah's son Sem. Most Palestinians are closer to Semitic than any Israeli Prime Sinister, or citizen for example. (What a crazy misinformed world).

A matter of semantics--------Semitic is the term used to denote Jews-----------correct word, or not. Arabs are Semitic people, too-tho the word is not used for them.

I take you are implying that Jews do not belong Israel, as they had left, scattered, and gone. The Babylonians only took some of them as slaves. The rest stayed, and so-now you know. There have always been Jews in Israel. They have never given their land up.
