We have our own nurses. For example Hornsea Cottage hospital said they had too many, downsized and have now closed. We can train our own to do what we need to do. If all they can do is clean toilets, then bring it on. If they dont work, they don't eat. How hard is it to sweep a street?

I am not having a go at polish or any immigrant in particular. I think we need to get our own house in order before sorting out everyone else.

I agree with you. There is no more to be said. The bleeding heart brigade always seem to prefer foreigners with problems, than their fellow citzens with problems.

I for one do not want to pay $5 for an apple. If the citizens of this country are too lazy to get out there and do the job required at the price offered to them, then I am all for the immigrants, legal or not to go out there and take the jobs. I am sick of hearing about how immigrants "take" our jobs away from our people. How can they take them if nobody wants them. I prefer to be around illegal immigrants anyways, they are respectful (most arein my area) and work hard and stay to themselves. The legal immigrants (and again I am talking about the ones in my area, not all as a whole) I have seen more on the news in handcuffs where they have committed a crime or on a street corner selling drugs. If the jobs they have "taken" were worked by actual citizens they would not want to get paid what the illegal immigrants get paid. Minimum wage is not good enough for some of those people. They are too good to work.
This is my opinion and I was born and raised here in the US as was my family for hundreds of years.

While it sounds good on the surface, it leaves two things hanging... A job not filled which could result in less products available to everyone or higher prices for products or services... and the person refusing the job without any form of income or benefits who may turn to crime to satisfy their needs at some point... There is a reason we are in the predicament we are in... It seems to be the easiest way out with less hassles for people who don't want to be bothered by these problems...

How do you define an `indigenous person' in a multi-cultural society anyway? This country has had immigrants coming into for centuries so you will never stop that happening and besides it is too late now that we are in the EEC. They cannot get benefits anyway if they are immigrants it only the asylum seekers that can and it is they whom should be targeted.

Whilst we have immigration (and America has ALWAYS welcomed immigrants for very good reason). there are a lot of indigenous persons who either don't WANT to work, or that aren't QUALIFIED to do anything more than clean toilets.

what the indiginous people who dont want to work or cant work ?

we have always had immigrant workers and to a certain extent need them. but the amount of immigrants and asylum seekers (legal and illegal) that are being allowed in is ridiculous.

The polish immigrants can not get benefits. Stop reading the daily facist and thinking that it talks the truth. There headlines are all to do with either immigrants, dianas death or the house price crash...........They are all old news.

We have taken care of the planet so long that we've forgotten to look to ourselves.

I like your question...if you mean illegal immigration.

Close the borders until we get our stuff under control...the outcry of the world trying to get in may turn on mexico and then let the justice begin.

It depends what skills we need as a community...immigrant nurses are a benefit for instance.

And yes, we must all do something to help pull our own weight.
