If I were you I would look for insurance coverage before being diagnosed with diabetes. Once you have diabetes insurance companies do not like you and you will either be uninsurable or pay an arm and a leg for insurance doesn't pay much of anything. You can buy home glucose monitors at any pharmacy. Look for one that contains a few free glucose strips..saw an Accu-chek Aviva at walmart for less than $20. although these are not meant for diagnosing anything, you can check your blood sugar a few times, at different times, to see if you're blood sugar might be elevated. Check fasting a couple of times...usually just after waking, but at least 10-12 hours. It should be under 120. Then check it a few times after meals. It should be at least below 140. If you are consistently way above those numbers you probably have a problem. Diabetes is an expensive disease to have. Hope you're wrong.

Find a friend with diabetes or someone's parent or grandparent who has it. The home testing kits are pretty accurate, and you can share because each lancet and test strip is sterile (no risk of passing blood-borne diseases). If your morning reading (fasting) is above 126 on two separate tests, you're diabetic. If it's close to that but not quite, you are pre-diabetic. If it's between 70 and 110 you're not diabetic. Good luck!

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes.
And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.

Local hospitals and clinics sometimes give free screenings. Call them, and see if they have any coming up soon?
