Lately I have been getting quite severe chest pain, directly underneath my heart... it's sort of underneath my last rib on the left side of of my chest. It happens randomly although I was pushing my car last night and I suddenly got it... a really sharp pain that takes my breath away.

It hurts to breath and I have to wait til it goes away before I can move comfortably again.

I'm 19 years old and I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be dying of heart disease YET!! I'm about 5'11, 173cm I think, I weigh 63 kgs which is about 138 pounds.

Is it some kind of angina? I'm kind of scared because both my grandfathers have died of heart disease!!!

sounds like you might have pulled a muscle. My mom got inflamation set up in the muscles in her chest and she thought she was gonna die. It was terrible. Go to the doctor though so you can get some pain medication.

Its something you should definitely see a doctor about. Don't jump to conclusions and speculate. Stressing out about it will exacerbate angina. Get a professionals opinion. If this has only been of lately, it could just as easily be a collapsed lung, from the symptoms you described.

Regardless, if you want to reduce your chest pain and prevent a heart attack, there are things you can do:

1. Take one aspirin every day. It thins the blood making things easier for your heart.
2. Exercise. Try to avoid really intense exercise, but moderate sustained exercise can help strengthen your heart.
3. Eat healthy. Try to keep cholesterol and blood pressure down.
4. Don't smoke cigarettes or experiment with stimulants, like cocaine.

But above all else, you should talk to your doctor.

Instead of thinking this make an appointment to go to the doctor and check this out. You might be worrying about something that's not major at all. Don't make a big thing out of something small. There's a lot of other things that could contribute to this pain, such as heart burns, reflux disease, and others. Main point is, go see a doctor, stop worrying and enjoy life. Trust in the Lord, He can do anything, even the impossible.

Last rib on left side.
Its not compulsory that its problem with ur heart only.
If therz a heart problem therez pain at inner part of upper arm, shoulder for angina and at d middle f d chest near 3rd or 4th rib or so.
Actually as per ur age there r fewer chances of getting heart disease. If u hav any such type of disorder, it may b genetically most probably.

Ya i think therz wrong in ur diaphragm. Diaphragm may b causing pain and difficulty in breathing as u hav suggested last rib.

It shud be diagnosed as soon as possible1!

If it started when you were pushing a car, I would think it is a pulled muscle.

I have a bad heart and I have had pulled muscles that have the symptoms of a heart attack. Best to go have a doctor check you out.

Its probably a torn muscle if you only get the pain when you are doing strenuous exercise. Go to teh doctor and get it checked out.. if you had heart pain, it would be along yourupper chest, you'd feel ill, and you would probably have pain or numbness in your arm and face aswell.

heck yeah you can have a heart attack at 19. Don't be one of those guy who died of not going to the doctor. 5'11" and 138 is pretty damn unhealthy, too. There might be a connection.
